Ascona 400 (road car)

Wanted to bump this topic up again. I was talking to my cousin over the hols and he owned this around 90-91 and after seeing the i200 he asked if I knew if anyone knew of the Asconas whereabouts. He bought it from a guy in Ayr and then sold to someone who worked at one of the race circuits down south. The front end was repaired when my cousin had it as he hit a transit coming the other way on the Isle of Man when running as one of the course cars when the roads should have been shut.

Car was originally in Warsteiner colours and I believe was used as an Opel show car in Germany before coming to the UK.

Any info appreciated.

Brings back memories .......

Stuart Milne wanted to buy Lanark man John Brodie's 2.7 dry sumped 400 engined tarmac Manta circa 1990 and the deal included his Ascona 400 which had just been repaired after the IOM accident but was still lacking one of the wing splits ! The agreed value of the Ascona was £7 K and John who had no interest in it, offered it to me . Much to my eternal sorrow I didn't go for it deciding to hang onto a Manta I had ( and still do ) instead. Stuart didn't buy the Manta and John traded it against a Gartrac Escort instead . I have no idea where the Ascona went to after that. I can also still remember Stuart's old blue Chevette he used to campaign way back then too.

Ahhhh happy days ..........
