Ah, finally got back on t'internet! Cheers for posting those pics Simon. Cheers for the offer of the intercooler clive but I found the one in the pics for a good price on fleabay.

Yeah the car's coming on. Feels really good to be out of the woods as far as sorting out the chassis and other structural rusty bits is concerned. Am hoping to get some pipework done this weekend, inlet and exhaust as well as mounting the intercooler. Got to finish some areas of welding before the engine goes back in though. I'll post some pics when I've put it together. Got to look at mounting the seats and steering column too.

Hello, sorry about the long gaps between posts.

I spent hours bending the metal over my knee and using the English Wheel to make those inner wings....Nah just kidding - it's a rear fender from a chopper that has been cut in half and then extended to create the wheel tub. The fender came from Holland.

The current status is that the welding is finished and the car has no more gaping holes in it - time for a party! The engine bay's now complete so it's onto grinding & seam sealing it all, then undersealing the trans tunnel.

I think it's engine back in and start on exhaust / turbo pipes after it's all cleaned up!

that engine bay is a work of art - smoooth/decluttered is definately the way to go[8D]

i'm sure you've done all your sums and research but that intercooler seems rather small. is it up to the job or just a case of not wanting a huge gaping IC at the front and that one being the perfect size for the grill?

Have you thought about using a V-mount set-up? with the engine mounted so far back it would be ideally suited

yeah, the initial plan was to go for a V-mount set-up, however it just looked meaner with the intercooler poking out the front. That particular one, although not very tall, is quite deep and is rated to the same power as I'm hoping for - 350-ish bhp. Hopefully it will be fine but I guess the proof's in the pudding. I was a bit concerned about the size at first too but I guess I'll just have to hope that the manufacturer's quoted figure is correct.

Had a good bit of progress on the car this weekend - thanks to Simon for pitching in to move things on a bit. You can't see it in the pics but the engine bay and interior is now all seam-sealed and was looking really good when I left.

As you can see, my exhaust system is pretty short & unrestrictive!! There's probably no more than 3 feet of pipe for the exhaust gases to travel through and it may or may not have a silencer. We'll see; it depends how much the turbo silences it. Either way it should help release a few horses.

Also got some of the intercoller pipes very roughly mocked up.

Once again, my thanks to Simon for all he's done:) We're hoping to have it running by the end of the month, so fingers crossed!
