Life should NOT be a journey to the grave arriving safely but rather to skid in sideways beer in hand, chocolate in the other body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "What a Ride!"

Yep its going to be RAC MSA log booked with a dual purpose of a Road Rally Car, Stage Car and maybe the odd sprint and track day. Ive had enough of building cars and using them just once or twice then selling them because some one offers me good money, this one is going to be totally abused (just don't tell the guy who sprayed it he does all my cars inmy garage and has fallen in love with this one had has told me if i bend it im in trouble) !!!!!!!!!!

Dan the rear brakes are Mk3 Escort disc's (solid) with Mk4 Astra / Zafira calipers as they went on all my Manta's a treat and i never had any problems with the rear brake performance when hand braking or the performance of the cable operation for MOT reason's and Ronnie (Local MSA Scrutineer) etc etc so i put them on the Chevette as well and they work just well on that.

Chevette looks great, and I'm sure its even better in the flesh! Well done!

Slightly off topic, I've got a 2.9 BOA engine and plans to put it in my manta, I know you put one in your P100. What flywheel and clutch did you need to mate it to the Type 9 box?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Pass me the gun and ask me again....

In reply to the above, The 2.8 and 2.9 flywheel from the XR4i and XR4x4 will fit directly on to the BOA crank, the one to get though is the Capri 2.8i Flywheel as its the lightest of all 3 and then use the Capri 2.8i Clutch assy. Just as a fore warning though the Type 9 box was on its limit in std form with the 2.8 Capri engine and when i put a 2nd hand unit into the P100 it lasted 7 Days before ripping the teeth off the input shaft gear. The gearbox to use is the MT75 gearbox as this will take upto 300bhp easy and then you use the 2.8 Capri flywheel with a Cosiie driveplate and clutch assy, and that gearbox also has the slow running speed sensor fitted to the box which you need to wire up to the ecu or the engine will stall at Junctions as and when it see's fit which is most annoying !!!!!!!!

As asked for pictures of the engine bay interior and the Chassis Mounts for the engine which are home fabricated from old rear axle tie rods from a Chevette / Manta (Large end) and the the actual brackets are made from 2" flat bar and 8mm flat plate shaped to fit the bolts on the block.

Used the trailing arm as mounts on my last 3 or 4 projects where i have Chassis mounted an XE, did it 1st on an old Chevette Class 3 Grass Track car i used to race then my old Orange Manta rally car (E440 EOY) was the 1st road going car i tried it on, never had any problems with engine movement or the mounts breaking in any way its just nice simple and the best STRONG !!!!!!!!
