Hi, Can anyone tell me if the rear gearbox mounting on the manta 5 speed Getrag is available to buy new and if not, where could I source one 2nd hand. Also, do any other vauxhall/opels use the same mount. Thanks.

I'm not sure if they're still available but they used to be a helluva price, about £70 was the last quote I got. Just a thought, but as this is basically the same 'box as in an old BMW 3-series, is it the same mount, or was it a different mount for the Beemer's crossmember? Not that BMW specialises in cheap spares ...

Got mine from Opel Classic Parts a while back.

Go to their site, http://www.opel-classicparts.com/eng/index.html, and search on the following part numbers.

GM number: 9290083

Opel number: 682514

682514.jpg

30,02 € each

Think there was only type of gearbox mount on the Manta B so that should be it.

Someone else on here might put me right on that though. Dr Manta seems to have this offset one 01110051t.jpgand a square one 03110065t.jpg.

Thanks to you all for the replies. Yep, new mounts are a bit on the expensive side so I might go with the suggestion of making up a mounting myself or I might be lucky and find one here on the Isle of Lewis. Thanks again guys! :thumbup

I'll have to dig out my box of bits that I ordered from OCP and check which one I've got then.

Is the Manta B 5 speed gearbox mounting offset similar to the A series one I pictured in my post?

From memory the one I bought from OCP is offset and not square on and the replacement one fashioned by mantachris on the vxopel site appears offset to the cross member as well?

So you're not interested in mine then? :(

Hi Rick, don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm not interested but it would be easier to get one locally if possible. If I can't find one I will probably get back to you if that's OK
