Remember, the scrappage scheme is a scheme to do just that... scrap, NOT recycle the parts!!!!! moderators, please post this in whichever part of the forum you feel is relevent. This is not totaly true, i work for the one of the largest licensed salvage sales and car breakers in the south east and already the flood gates are open and we are getting in these scrapage scheme cars and i can assure you for us these are very good breakers and all parts are being sold and recyclyed from these cars. Id like to add to this i dont totaly agree with this scheme, we are getting some fantastic clean even mint cars in that are far to good to be broken and to me it seems such a waste. Rick-Manta
It's just more lefty spin, the scrappage actually profits through VAT since the £2k is taken orf before final total on an average car sale price and to mention the fact that only £1k is subbed by the government the other is by the dealer group, the VAT return is £1750!!! Also, the scrappage scam isn't forever (unless there's a change of plan later down the line) so by the end of the year hopefully the damage to classic car numbers would be minimal. Shug
Its in the news today about how the scheme is a big success. Makes no reference to environmental matters, only about increasing orders for dealers.
Rick-Manta
Not that most people realise that they can get just as much money off at the month end or registration change over and don't have to surrender their immaculate MK3 Cortina for the privilidge. Kevin Abbott
It's all just a numbers moving game, you don't win, it's like playing in vegas, the house always wins spend 10000 quid= 1500 in vat Anyone with half a brain won't scrap a car over 10 years old that can return money as you can get a shi==er for nothing and send that in. some mantas are still worth sod all so don't worry about someone buying your loved manta for 500 quid and bailing it! your manta isn't now instantly worth 2 grand .you can get more than 2k off a list price by bidding in the balls, the dealers have fields of cars worth f88k all at the mo. The scrappage ( yea it is a made up word ) scheme will work, it will work for people who don't know they are being played
