is it possible to fit throttle bodies to my 2.o gte CIH hatch.

If so, which ones are suitable and will they give a bit more power as more air is being drawn in.

o yeah, how does the ecu calculate the injection if the air mass is no longer used. ???????

Cheers dudies.

Cant imagine anyone spending a load of dosh on throttle bodies and fitting them to a standard manta engine just does not make sense.

GTE engine 110BHP ...........................................Throttle bodies made for a manta plus ecu prob £2k and worthless unless you modify the head etc

red top standard 150BHP (£300) hard to work it out rolleyes.gif

Standard manta engine or slightly modified, either webbers or bike carbs and a bogg bros manifold

Hmm, seems WAY TOO HIGH a price.

Especialy as Ive been quoted around 750 for a set of throttle bodies of lesser restriction !

Work out ALL the totl costs and you will find out tha the ones offered by 'Active Technologies down at Hethel will sort something out for you !!

if you can get bodies + ignition for £750 i would be amazed.

dont even think u can use bike bodies and megasquirt for that little money.

and still if you did what gains would you get on the cih?

still dont think you`d see over 150bhp.. it costs alot of money to tune a cih

thats why peaple slap a xe in there a simple weekend job:)

how is the fueling controlled on throttle bodies and injection, ive never worked with throttle bodies before. how is the air mass measured. obviously the ecu needs signals to adjust air/fuel ratio dun it? will a new ecu be needed. cheers people

Can you supply a link to a supplier that will supply throttle bodies, ecu sensors and loom for £750, I know a few people with red tops that would jump for a system at that price thumbsup.gif

Second hand jenvy throttle bodies sell for £750 with ecu never mind adding on cam position sensors, throttle postion sensors, crank sensors, and on modern engines lambda sensors etc

Never said it included ecu or anything..............however, it did include bodies and manifold, and tps

If you ask them they will make a set to fit webber manifolds, plus you could also get a single set up made and have two injectors per inlet side. You would then need to mod the airbox/air flow meter to fit ,which isn't an overly serious job if you can fabricate things. ;)

Throttle bodies are available for the CIH as they are exactly the same mountings as 45/48 weber/dellorto set ups, singles will fit as well. The only snag that there is, is that there are no link kits available so you will need to make up your own, but i've already had to do this with the dellorto set up.

As for fitting them and there being no improvement..........you WILL get a more responsive engine and a more tractable and fuel efficient set up with throttle bodies.I have been chatting with Dave Newman at Newman cams about have a cam custom ground for the 2.3/2.5 motors i'm building SLOWLY and his opinion is that it will completely transform the motor into a different animal with more torque and power over the whole rev range.

It may not give a big power increase on the std motor but neither will carbs, headwork and cams are needed for that. The good thing with getting the throttle body set up early is that any improvements you make on the notor are very easily and quickly changed by reprogramming the ECU instead of having to buy new dizzys, etc.

150bhp on a CIH is pretty easy to do plus if you do start tuning the XE motor the injection set up will limit you and you will have to re chip it. If the DVLA start with their stupid rules on modding vehicles, then swapping the engines is going to count against you and as we change the axles, brakes etc you might find that XE powered mantas may fall foul of the points system.
