Rick-Manta
It's very nice I grant you but I can think of loads of mint/resto cars I could get for that money, and a fifth of a small house! Not in the case of the Mexico but for what was a very very common car, the demand and scarceity of MK1 Escorts went crazy since the early 2000's, I couldn't even contemplate thinking to ever want one, Mantas are hard enough and even the best ones go for half the cost of a crap MK1 scort! Try and find a Manta in the condition that Mexico is in and it will cost a lot, or try building a Manta to that standard and it will cost a lot plus loads of man hours, Escorts can be expensive but in a lot of cases there has been serious money spent on them. fjz400
Love it.... Maybe he would swap for the 400 + the odd £k Got to say Rick thats not alot for that car if it is true concours condition I would have expected it to be a bit more with the following they have at the moment. It was only the other year a std mk1 fiesta pop sold for that money mind it did have very low miles.
Rick-Manta
Sure, I wasn't saying or suggesting this Mexico is over priced, just for that money that I would rather buy a mint condition/resto Manta Exclusive coupe (ooooh!), a mint condition pre 1985 GTE hatchback (aaaah!), get my 1.8S hatch professionally painted and have the engine rebuilt (oooooooo!), get a solid early B shell with a rebuilt Rover V8 and all the tools I'd need to throw it all together ( coming!) and I've still got enough left to put down as a deposit on owning my own house again. That's four Mantas in a condition close to this Mexico plus a few bricks of a two bed semi against just the Mexico, you'd have to be either quite wealthy or a serious MK1 escort fanatic to buy this. Not necessarily, that's just the face I pull, for some it might be for others those who were a bit premature or when you're on you own and feeling a bit guilty
GTEPETE
My friend bought a brand new Mexico in 1974, its was the first time I had travelled at 100 mph plus, on the A4 between Reading and Maidenhead, seems very tame now, cars can do this speed in 3rd gear! but still remember like it was yesterday....
