1.8 Starter Motor

will a xe starter motor fit a 1.8 as my 1.8 starter has died

never tried, they look quite different but the blocks are the same in that area (in fact more or less the same entirely) can have a look, or can send a good 1.8 one, I have a couple of spare good ones, £20 + £7 post

I remember reading somewhere that there are actually 2 different starter motors for the xe engine, with a different number of teeth on the starter cog.

Never actually investigated this to confirm though, but thought i'd mention it.

Might be worth taking your starter off and comparing it to a 1.8 one, i'm sure Rutts will have one lying around you could compare to

xe one fits a 1.8 but the wiring is at a different angle thats all, got a 1.8 on a let in unit now

think you need to crimp on a different terminal onto the exciting wire from ignition.

cheers andy correct as normal ,done it now and it works fine,the xe starter is much lighter as well so i binned the bracket on the front.because i had to take all the inlet off to get the feckin siezied bolts out
