611 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) Hi Im just upgrading some brakes on a manta A and the ones im taking off wont be needed anymore so if your looking for some make me an offer! Current setup vented front discs with volvo 4 pot calipers. They had a full rebuild a while ago so seals should be ok, bit of surface rust on discs and calipers need a re-paint but apart from that all good and worked fine when on car. i also have rear set of 4x4 clipers that take the handbrake cable going as well if someone wants a rear disc conversion, sorry not discs only calipers, but you can use old style bmw 3 series ones. same condition as fronts. Drop me a reply if interested. Andy Edited March 1, 2011 by 611 Quote
rustynuts Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Very interested, have you got a price in mind. Quote
611 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 haven't thought about it much, any money will help pay towards the expensive goodridge fittings im getting for the new setup! I in bournemouth so if they have to be sent by courier that might cost a bit, and dont want to make it expensive for someone to buy as i already have the new stuff so they will just be getting in the way!! Will take some picture tomorrow and upload and see what you think. Any one got any thoughts on price?? Quote
ray70 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Will they still take Rostyles?, because I want bigger brake for when I have my 17in alloys on but I also want to be able to swap and change to my rostyles for if I want to go to a car show or just fancy a change. Thanks, Ray. Quote
611 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Hi Ray From what i remember (and it was a while ago!) i think that the calipers will foul on the rostyles. Im not 100% but i think the distance from the disc to the inner of the wheel is not enough to take the caliper but i can measure it so you can work it out. I will take some pictures over the weekend and upload for anyone thats interested. they will come will all the goodridge fitting to hook up to the brake pies as well as im getting new ones for the new setup. Just need to old disc for a template for the new discs im getting so all should be ready for anyone who wants them after the weekend. Andy Quote
611 Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) Here is a quick couple of pictures of the front brakes. discs just have surface rust where they have been sat in the garage for a while and will clean up with a wire wheel and the calipers are about the same. They were fully rebuilt with all the seals new and have just been sitting int ehgarage so a good clean up and they should all be fine. Im thinking about £40 for the fronts (discs and calipers) and £25 for the rears ones which are in the same condition but its just the calipers. They use the same handbrake cable as the drum setup and all you need is BMW 3 series solid discs and it just fits straign on. And you need to make up a brackets that fits to the axel to hold them. Any more info just drop me a message. Im in Bournemouth if you need to collect. If you want to see what im replacing them with i have all the info here..
