paulmanta
Hi Folks, As some of you know I recently bought a Manta A that had a MK2 Escort estate roof put on it. I bought it for two reasons, one was because it came with a gearbox I needed and a few other bits and bobs, the second reason was It would have been weighed in for scrap if i did not buy it. I did not pay much for it, only scrap value. I need to sell it on to someone who fancies a big but interesting project, it looks better in the metal and it is mostly solid, there are a few big bits of welding to do and a fair amount of tidying in the back inside to get it to look like its supposed to be an estate. I cannot do it, I have too much work and family stuff going on to take on another big project but I would say it is possible, its rough but not unsaveable. Any question just PM me or email me. I think James C (Stradacab) should buy it, It would keep him quiet for ages ! Edited August 4, 2011 by paulmanta

paulmanta
It has loads of potential and could be a stuning car if someone with a welder and a will to work bought it. I Imagine a nice 2.4 or a 16v and a 5 speed, A bright orange paint job with a matt black bonnet and a set of deep dish minilite wheels. Black interior, possibly only front seats, the rest of it boarded out and carpeted. If the wife was not pregnant and I was not selling up a lot of stuff to pay for it I would keep it ! Oh and i have the front screen as well, It will be included. Edited August 4, 2011 by paulmanta

mantaboy89
Starting to get really tempted now, guna see what happens with this cav first, what condition the floorpans and stuff? I got a 3.9 rover and a 3.0 24 valve lump waiting to go in something. Lol
paulmanta
Cheers for the congrats ! Small Paulmanta is due in November so I don't have long to sort my stuff out and get any extra stuff sold. The kadett is Nigel old one, Well its my old one, I sold it to Nigel originally and then my mate who works with me bought it back off Nigel, Its his daily driver and its still excellent fun. The floors in the A-estate are pretty good. I am happy for anyone to come and have a poke but don't expect an easy job. You will need to weld it but its a good base. Its more solid than the A series I have which needed loads of inner wing stitching and jacking point love. I can also possibly deliver, I have a car trailer as you can see from the pics and I don't mind a moderate trip for fuel money, I am in deepest cornwall though so I am a fair way away unless you are on holiday down here over the summer ! Shuviteer
Looks very interesting. Do the front windows still close and seal off correctly ??
lepo5
For anyone looking to buy the car, and are worried about delivery, try this company www.uship.com you just add the postcode where the car will be picked up and the postcode as to where it will be delivered to, your e-mail address, and the Carriers bid like an auction, competing for your business, as paul says he has a trailer, so he could deliver to a pre arranged place and the carrier can pick up from there, it is an amazing service, i have used u ship before, once you get one bid in the rest all come in cheaper, worth a try if your seriously interested. paulmanta
The area around the front windows needs work to finish (much like the rest of the car) but the idea was to use the seals from a later Manta B, this is a nice thick seal up the B post and is flexible enough to work. I am trying to get 5 mins to put it on the ramp and go underneath to take more pics.
paulmanta
Right, I have been under it, the verdict is about the same as I expected, It has loose paint, some rust and is needing work. the pics are below, I think It is do-able, yes there is welding, yes there is paint but I think it might make a bloody good drift/track car. I do hope this forum has re-sizing in the forum software, these are as they came out the camera.
