Thomas77GR
Hi any tips on how to loosen the 4 torx (star shaped) bolts that hold the intake manifold onto the exhaust manifold? I've soaked it in wd40 and used brute force but they won't budge.. time for blow torch?
StevieH
Yup heats the way to go
Atlantean
Get some penetrating oil on them — something like PlusGas — WD40 is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike when it comes to penetrating bolts!
Mototechnics
Yep heat is the way to go. FYI I find GT85 much better than WD40. Mark

rayman
Good sharp smack on top with a hammer to loosen them usually works
mantasrme
Make sure the inside of the bolt heads are clean so the torx bit goes in fully, also clean around the edge of the head so the penetrating fluid can get in. Give it a good squirt of oil, I use Duck Oil for a penetrating fluid about the best i've found. Then a sharp smack straight on the top and even a couple onto the side of the manifold where the bolt threads are. Its amazing what a good whack with a decent hammer can do to jar free stubborn bolts
