MikeyRules
Rare opportunity to buy a fully restored 2.0l Opel Manta GT/E Exclusive coupe in white. She was first registered on 1st August 1988, and was number 10 off the production line. Only 67977 miles from new!! 12 mths MOT/Currently SORN. (I only did 300 miles last year to the Billing show and back, and she's been dry stored in the garage ever since. (Started and ran every few weeks though) The car was fully stripped back to a bare shell, and the only repairs needed were a 50p hole in the spare wheel well and a 10*100 mm repair to underside of one sill, & both were cut out and replaced with new steel. Fully protected underneath with white stonechip and then sprayed in Opel white to match the body, engine bay and boot were painted too. Complete nut and bolt rebuild over 18 months inc full respray in original Opel White. All main components were stripped, sand blasted and then painted black inc both front and rear axles, with the Gearbox cleaned and sprayed in silver. New discs to front (Genuine GM dust gards fitted) and new rear drums too, with new Genuine GM shocks all round. All the original fuel and brake pipes were cleaned and painted, the original engine was in perfect order so was just completely re-painted as it needed nothing more. Stainless steel exhaust system fitted ,new fuel pump and rear fuel tank cover, new boot carpet. The interior is like new, with no wear to either seats. She still has the original Radio Cassette, and speakers on the parcel shelf. No speaker holes in the door cards , and the carpet is mint. Grey Alcantara roof lining. The sunroof works as it should. The agreed Club and Lancaster Insurance value of £7500. She came 2nd in the ''Exclusive original class'' at Billing 2010. This car is absolutely in mint condition. I'm not in a rush to sell, and only really selling her as she just doesn't get used which is a crying shame. I'd like to see her go to a Club member who can appreciate the car, enjoy it and ensure it will be looked after correctly. I have a full disc of pictures showing the full rebuild, including pictures of how solid the car was before hand, and can email as requested. For those of you in the know, the car's fantastic condition is all down to Steve (Titson Rallying). Car is located in south Manchester and can be viewed most evenings/weekends, £6500. The site has recently been changed so its members only for the first 7 days. MikeyRules
Thanks guys and you're all probably right... Steve I really didn't think I'd be selling her tbh... The truth is I just don't get time to enjoy her at all. Change of job, poorly parents, and a new baby and everything else that goes with it, has meant she's just been tucked up in bed every since Billing last year, and I'm firm believer that these great cars should be driven and enjoyed! I had a phone call today about it, and the guy just seemed totally focused on the fact that there was no history, and that I couldn't prove the mileage! (I confirmed I had circa 100 photos of the car being collected from the previous owner, and step by step pictures taken during the rebuild and of completion. (Obviously I've got the 3 MOT's since) I know where's he's coming from, but this car is like new, given the fact that the re-build was so exstensive! So I didn't think his concerns were as valid as they would have been if the car had been untouched for 24 years? I felt like saying 'jog on' !! (Or words to that effect)

plumster
Unless you are desperate I suggest you keep it, you will more than likely regret selling in years to come. Mine is up on the stands for 6 or 7 months a year & may only get a few hundred miles of use a year nowadays. There were a few times over the past 30 years that I thought of getting shut, now I can't imagine it not being there. I will get my lad on the insurance once he is 25 & hopefully he will keep it going once I have pegged it.

Unfortunately for me the database only goes back to 2005, and the car was off the road prior to 2010 so it only shows the MOT'S I already have... As you say he's probably not the right person for the car. You only have to see it, and listen to how smooth the engine runs etc to know it's genuine. Danny D114BCW
Like people are saying nobody gets the time or the weather to use them a lot, i would make sure its used when you can and warmed up once a month, keep it for another year or so if you can that is, then see how you feel, how much of a cool dad will you be when the baby's older and you collect them from school. Titson
Hi Mike, Hope she goes to someone who will appreciate her. As for the history before I bought it, I had no reason to doubt the fact that it had sat in his garage for the 10/11 years he said, certainly everything pointed to that. Plus the fact that it was in such a good state anyway was good enough for me! And I wasn't prepared to let it be sold to someone who was interested in turning it into a rally car!! I won't let it be any other way Steve... One of the guys already has a 400 nearing finished restoration and wants this to add to his collection, and the other chap is one of my club members from JOV, and is a perfectionist when it comes to his cars. But at the end of the day the money will talk the talk, and the rest will just be dreamers... I'm like you Steve, and have no reason to doubt its history. To be honest you kind of reset that the time and condition clocks back to zero anyway with the restoration!
Irmscher Man
I agree with the previous comments - try and keep her if you can as you will regret it big style, in the future. So what if she has a few years off the road while your life gets sorted out ?? You can still have the pleasure of going into the garage and starting her up every now and then and just enjoying the car in that way. I have a couple of Mantas and one of them is usually off the road. My i200 has been on stands in the garage for a few years now (it gets a drive every now and then) but I am soooo glad I didn't sell her when I was thinking about it a couple of years ago. It would be a shame to see her go over to Ireland, too many decent cars went that way a few years back. Nothing against the guys across the water but from a selfish point of view - we don't often get to see the cars again once they have made that particular journey. Keep it.....You know it makes sense! Danny D114BCW
You seen the black one on ebay? this must mean yours is worth about 15k now
MikeyRules
You seen the black one on ebay? this must mean yours is worth about 15k now Haha yes just had a look... 19k from new. Dreaming at 10k and he obviously knows nothing about it judging by the lack of content in the Ad. I wonder what she's like in all the usual suspect places? Well I'm having a fair stream of enquires coming through now... just a matter of understanding how many are tyre kickers, with nothing better to do vs actual Manta lovers wanting to fulfill their childhood dream!! Rab
To have an own such a immaculate Manta as in pictures,& seen @ Billing and as above posts would think hard on selling. If storage is not a problem would just keep tucked up for the future. rab.
