If you mean the one in the engine bay mounted on top of the chassis leg on the passenger side then you can just remove it.

Its a pressure limiter to stop you locking the rear brakes under heavy braking

I've always removed them on my cars and never had an issue.

It also allows a much neater/easier run of brake pipes in the engine bay

They are fitted to ensure the front brakes lock before the rear. If the rear brakes lock first the back usually passes the front. Therefore removing it may be a safety issue. However, you can get adjustable front / rear bias valves from various places for competition that do the same thing.

the early cast iron type valves all tend to leak eventually but later cars (about 1982 onwards)have a much better cylindrical shaped design which seems to last longer & is probably easier to get hold of anyway.i assume you have the 4 pipe valve rather than the very earlt 2 pipe valve.

I have a few original regulators kicking around if you want one to replace yours.

Be careful when looking at the rally style brake adjusters, most of them limit the rear braking even when adjusted to minimum.

For example some set at their lowest reduce the rear braking effort to 70% and then can then be adjusted down to 40% so they are only useful if your rear brakes are way too powerful to start with.

There aren't many (if any) that don't restict the power when at minimum.

Thinking about it i can't ever remember running standard front brakes with the modulator removed, mostly because its so long ago since i've driven a manta with standard front brakes (more than 15years now :o ) so there may be a case for retainng it.

But if running better front brakes i always bin the modulator and have never once locked the rear brakes under heavy braking in any car i've done it to.
