Sometimes oil sorts it out for a bit. Depends if what you are actually hearing is due to excessive endfloat / wear in which case it's often the commutator on a step in the brushes.

My answer above is a good one for giving a decent blower with the power the original Manta one never had that will last when you have gone through all your old ones like I had.
