CRAZYDAVE
Paintwork looks very suspect to me. Very flat different colours and missing graphics. Also its far too dear considering those faults!
Cavtastic
I think you have to view the car to be honest. look ok but chassis rails and Jacking points are a must check. As for cost if someone wants one that bad they will pay that amount. 1980's cars have over the last 3 years doubled in price! Is it that the classic car dealers have bought all the decent remaining stock left and are loading the price for a double their purchase price profit? Mk1 Cavalier's have entered dream prices for present owners and are in somecases appearing to be more expensive to purchase than Opel Manta B's from the same age. S,T,V and W plated vehicles. Mick
From the photos thats not a 3.5k car, maybe a 2k at a push.

I have to agree with Cav here. Moody looking paint could just be moody light and none of the important stuff is in the pictures. It's about 45 minutes away from me - I may have a look for the giggles though I'd hate to waste the poor guys time. edit: oh wait, no. Headlight wipers are MIA. For that reason I'm afraid I'm out.
