Difference In Braking

firstly, are there any differences in brakes between the 1.6 and 1.9 manta A's?

There were two types of 1.6. The 1.6n had a smaller rear axle than the s. There were 2 different sizes of rear drums, but I don't know if it was just down to axle size or not.

and the difference between the "n" and "s" can be taken from the engine number?

Yup. The 1.6 n had lower bhp.
