mantasrme
The rear oil seal can go after the car has been parked up unused for a while as the front of the propshaft (that slides in and out through the seal under normal use) goes rusty. So then when you start using the car and sit the rear end down the prop goes forward into the seal and the rusty part damages the seal. Always clean the front of the prop with a scotch pad or wire wool before fitting a new seal. As for gearbox oil i've not had a problem running non original oil. But do not mix the original stuff with anything else as it really doesn't like it, you can get a very notchy shift and whining. If you want to change drain it all and swap to modern quality synthetic oil
