Boot Lid Lift

I've got the usual exclusive boot lid problem where it pops up on the left hand side when shut.

I've done some digging but I can't find the thread that tells you how to fix it, can someone shed some light on it please?

Well, could be a few things, mine was that it had the stronger springs for the big spoiler but I only had a small spoiler on the car so the extra torsion was pushing the lid corner up, what spoiler have you got ?

The other fault I have come across is that the hinge is actually a big rivet and that gets sloppy, once it does get slack it soon goes oval and then the lid is pushed up.

Fixes are to fit a new rivet or to put the older GTE torsion bars in, either way its a pain in the arse !

One car I had was so bad I ended up cutting the whole hinge out and putting in a good one from another car, I do have good used hinges here, I tend to cut them out of scrap cars if they are good.

It's got the three piece spoiler on it.

The left side is the thicker bar and the right side is a normal one.

So I need a gte bar then?

Also the left hinge has a huge crack in it.

If you have the three piece spoiler on it then leave the bars alone, otherwise you will have a sore head.

The crack sounds like its a problem, take a pic, post it on here, lets have a look.

just cut the torsion bars out and use a cut to length piece of wood to hold it up when in use.

much easier than changing hinges, torsion bars, welding then painting.

I recently cut mine out and im looking for a suitable gas ram setup to use instead.
