Hi all,

Rear axle on my 1900 Cavalier Mk1 is on its way out at the dreaded 100,000 mile mark.

1. Where can I buy the necessary bits for rebuild? (Is it crownwheel/pinion bearings and shims or more than that needed?)

2. Is this specific to an engine size? I know diff gearing varied with engine size.

Know someone who can rebuild, just need the bits. Noise is getting noisier by the mile and collapse can't be far off.

Any help appreciated,

BJ

Those kits seem hellishly expensive, must be able to find them cheaper or are they just an odd size? I was after a flange oil seal on a carlton diff (also expensive on the bearings) vauxhall wanted silly money so I just measured it up and got a perfectly good replacement for less than a tenner.

Expensive ain't the word!

I am only typing this after being revived with smelling salts - and the one guy actually thinks you should pay postage on top of £329 for kit ...

Let's see if anyone else comes in with a better offer, that seems OTT to me. Be surprised if they were an odd size and I didn't pay half that last time I got an axle reconditioned.

Thanks for trying to help, though, alymac.

For ex Wheel bearing set is 1604210 Or 1604289 Or 1604197 (90019086-9048464) but it is considered according to Adam Opel AG as NLS (No Longer Supply) The same set with SKF or FAG data (if you will get it) can be located ......
