Cih Tuning

Hi Jack

What are you trying to do with the engine? and what is your current setup.

The bottom end is boring out and going bigger as had mine taken out to a 2.1

With the head i would get a 2.0 and port it and add bigger inlets over the 2.2 as it will work out better as you can get cheap inlets for twin carbs and you don't have to worry about the thermostat housing.

You should find some good threads on tuning the CIH on here.

thanks guys, im getting a 1900 engine and wanted to get it around 160-180bhp, ive got twin 45s and the manifolds, a 1.6 crank (which i was told is lighter) and solid lifters. my plan was to bore to a 2.1 wile incorporating theses parts

im also going to port n polish the head with bigger valves(not sure what size im going with yet) and get the ressie oil pump cover to improve oil presser. then the cam and maybe rockers.

any ideas?

You should see 160bhp ok with bottom end done and bigger valves, but it think getting near the 180bhp might be a bit harder.

I ran 2.1, big valve 2.0l head and twin 45's but only a mild cam and it was running around 150bhp

I went for the milder cam so i think a wilder one will see you over that but its getting a balance that keeps it drivable!

Maybe a bit bigger on the bottom end?

lamchop is your man for tuning. Im sure he will jump on the thread in a bit. Do lots of research before you decide on a route as if you head down the wrong one you could send your money for not much gain :-)

Im sure the bigger inlets will give you more than any polishing on the CIH but lamchop will be able to tell you the best way to get bhp for your pounds :-)
