A Series Bonnet Repair Advice

Hi folks

I've cut out the grill from the bonnet as it was rusted and looking to replace it with something else, was thinking of fabricating a frame with a mesh screwed in and then the whole thing (frame plus mesh) welded in and plastered with filler. I can't find any decent vents on ebay that would match the style of the manta.

If I weld a solid piece of metal where the grill used to be wouldn't that affect air flow (or venting of the engine bay)?

Of course I could use a replacement/spare bonnet but not sure anyone here would be willing to part with?

thanks in advance

Get a block of wood and router out the shape of one of the slots. Get a bit of metal, cut a slit and hammer out the Louvre thingy. Then repeat for rest of slots and weld it in.Jobs a good un. Hardwood is obviously best.

Wil not affect engine bay venting, but will block the heater/ventalation fan intake.
