Just a quick one as I have just driven down the 250 miles from Glasgow to York after buying Kenny Dock's old Manta.

Being a ex Pat Scot myself - the car will still have tartan it it's blood.

Plans for the car are to carry on the great work Kenny started & see if I can add some more original parts back onto the car so the wants / have you got one / where do you get these will no doubt start on the forum.

Had a mk2 Cavalier Convertible a few years ago so will be back to Germany for parts.

Pressed the 'Join the Club' button at 3pm so hope to get down to Billing in July to meet up with other Manta Owners for advise etc.

Still have a TR7 DHC in the garage which will be up for sale soon, so hoping for some dry weather for the next few weeks as the Manta will be outside - although a Storm Force Cover is on it's way to keep her wrapped up at night for the time being.

Insurance for the day has just ran out so will be shopping for quotes tomorrow then out on the road but may give her a wash / polish to get rid of the splattered flies on her nose first !

Hello Neil, welcome to the club!

Very nice Manta you have there, is it the one that was for sale on the Car and Classic website? If so I did notice this one and was wondering why it wasn't advertised on the club. You should be really pleased with your Manta and I hope you enjoy the club and come along to Billing. I booked myself for the full weekend (3 nights) and will be meeting some Manta nuts like myself. :D

I am still on the hunt for my first Manta and my insurance isn't that bad to say I'm still young.

Cheers,

Jack.

Hi Jack read this thread from August 2013 it was offered to on the ads for sale on the forum & could have been had for probably as little as £4500

I hope kenny got close to the £5000 he originally wanted for the car.

I hope Niel enjoys the car. He will undoubtedly improve it, Niel get some pics of the TR7 on!!!! Immaculate car.

I had to see sence and let go, I was spending way more than the car was worth. I Do feel proud of my work over two years. Car was going in the bin when I bought it, and I knew nothing at all about mantas, and I mean nil. I'm now in the hunt for a GTE.

And wait for it...I've picked up a ford for the time being (sorry guys) lol 1988 all original Orion Ghia 1.6i 40k. Thanks for the support with NGA789V. This site is invaluable to owners. I will be getting another. Watch this space.

Kenny - I have already started spending money on the car ( like you it can get compulsive ! )

The Spare alloy wheel has been blasted & powder coated ( back in the boot within 3 days ) shod with a matching new tyre.

Spare new GM decal for the change of boot lid has come from a fellow club member & hoping to pick up the boot at Billing form another member.

New Interior light is winging it's way from Germany too.

Will start a another thread on the forum as i start to powder coat the suspension & renew other bits & bobs.

Car has had 3 coats of wax & another 200 miles on the clock last weekend so is getting out & about.

Good luck wight he Orion.

The last project which i just sold this week

Very nice, i don't suppose the TR7 just needed a quick wash & polish to get it in that condiion.

The TR7 had it's original paint & the underneath was a 'tinkering' job in the winter months - I sold it as using it was a nightmare & the thought of putting mileage / mud / rain / stone chips kept it locked away - the Manta will get the same treatment over the next few winters - luckily I work 3 months abroad then 3 month home so can get a lot done in a small space of time ( and garage ! ). Best of all I broke my virginity last week end & picked up my first stone chip on the Manta & I didn't do a Victor Meldrew much to my wives surprise so Billing & M1 here we come.

As my other posts suggest I like keeping cars original & improving it's fabric condition when spare parts come up.

So far this Club Site & it's members have been a great help 10 days into owning the car.

Neil
