Ems Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Are the clutch release arms the same for the 1.8 and GTE boxes? Also how do you know when the pivot bolt is at the correct length? Thanks Quote
MicsManta Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I do not know if they are the same but the pivot bolt is used a sort of pre adjuster. how i use it is by adjusting the bolt untill the other end of the arm is three quaters to halfway down the clutch cable adjuster thred and then lock it up and adjust the clutch as normal. It worked that way for me, others on the forum may have other ways but there is always more than one way to do anything. Quote
mantadoc Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 You adjust the clutch arm pivot until a specific measurement at the other end of the clutch arm is obtained between two specific point. It is in the Haynes manual with a diagram. In 25 years I have managed to never need to do this Quote
Ems Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 The 1.8 box I got with the car had no release arm fitted to it so I'm planning on using the one from a GTE box. Quote
MicsManta Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The only reason why I needed to adjust mine was because I bought a second hand gearbox and the arm was on the opposite side from where my cable is. The reason why i adjusted t the way i did was i was too lasy to read the manual (common mechanic problem) but mine workeda treat anyway. Quote
