Redrobie
As above. I need a new gasket for this and thought I had spares in a couple of Head Sets I had lying around. Both were sold as fitting this engine but both have different gaskets and neither fits the car. Guess the alternative is to get and fit a stainless four branch so if anyone can recommend or supply one let me know. Cheers, Bob.
spiney_norman
I can get you a brand new one from work if you need it, I'll have a look tomorrow! A stainless four branch will still need a gasket, but they are pretty. Retro Power would be the ones to speak to on that Edited July 1, 2014 by spiney_norman
Redrobie
Yes please. The gasket I need is between the manifold and the gasket. I had two head sets lying around but neither had the right size gasket but I did have a new manifold to head gasket so that's okay. Surely a four branch would not have the same gasket as the standard car as you would be removing the old manifold and down pipe and replacing with the four branch. That was my thought anyway. I am fitting stainless back boxes so maybe a stainless four bunch would solve exhaust issues long term. Bob.
rutts
do you mean the manifold to down pipe ? if so my local Asian car shop sells them for £1 each so I bought a few. let me know if you get one off spiney norman.
spiney_norman
My mistake, thought you meant the one between head and manifold! I'll have a look tomorrow mate.
Redrobie
Nah, I have two of them. I just can't understand why my local exhaust specialists, they can custom build systems to suit some pretty weird setups, cannot supply a gasket. I also don't know why I had two head sets and both had different gaskets but neither fit my car!!! Maybe it's cos it's a very early1976 model, but I am not sure how long exhaust paste is gonna work instead of a gasket. If all else goes well I will find out on my way to Billing. It's only about 250 miles with a loose exhaust so it should be no bother really. Thanks guys, Bob.
