Hello,

I'm Herman, aged 50 and I live in the neighbourhood of Antwerp.

Since I have my drivers-license I had always a Manta, the last years not for daily use.

I found this site while I was surfing the w.w.w, keep up the good work!

My Manta's:

A restaured GSI with 2.4 engine and some smaler up-grades:

And a more rare model, an original 400:

I am also a member of the Dutch "OMCN" (Opel Manta Club Netherland)  and the Opel400Club.

In a few weeks I'll be in Vessem, Holland. If one of you is there, say hello!

Greets!!

Welcome to our club  Herman, two very nice cars you have there, I'm just waiting to see what Jack, he's a member of this club, will have to say when he sees these Mantas.

Thanks for the comments, between my first Manta (Long time ago, just look at the model):

and the "400" are a lot of years.

You all love pics, so another one off the engine:

The engine is tuned up to 182 Hp, not that much but I don't want to install throttle bodies because I have to cut into the cilinderhead to replace

the manifold.

Grtz!

Hi Herman, I couldn't beleive it when you posted the picture of your 400! They are so rare you don't even see them at Billing! Be very honored to own such a legendary Manta and what some people consider to be the holy grail of Manta ownership. Love all of your pictures of your Manta's but it is a privelidge to me to see an original 400, please bring it to me Billing!! :D

Cheers,

Jack.

Hi Jack, Julian already mentioned your name when he saw the pictures of my 400. So you'r also a 400 enthousiast.

I am ofcourse very proud to have such a car, I never thought to have one of myself.

I bought the GSI to build a 400Replica, because the search after a 400 was a dream that was impossible.

Not long after I bought the GSI I found on the "400Club"Web-site an original M-400 for sale in Switserland.

After an examination of the owner I had his blessing  the 400 moved to Belgium.

In the past I visited England several times to buy spare-parts. That was before the Euro and internet.

Is Billing always in juli?

Greetings,

Herman.

Hi Herman,

I'm a fan of all Mantas and I am dying to have one of my own and the only person in my family to have ever owned Mantas is my godfather and he has owned 5 Exclusive Coupe's but sold his last one in 2011 and never bought another one. Just thinking about how much a 400 will cost basically rules that dream out for me I guess unless I did some serious hard saving for many decades. :) I have never actually been in a 400 ever, I had my first i200 experience at this years Billing and my first sit in an A series but never ever sat in a 400. I have heard one on youtube and just out of interest does the road going version sound like a rally car? The one I watched on youtube did. I am pretty sure Billing is always in July yes and I am pleading you to bring your 400 to Billing next year. :D :D

Regards,

Jack.

Hello Jack,

when I read between the lines I think you'r a lot younger than me. I wish you luck with your search for a Manta.

And yes, a 400 has got some impact on your savings! I thank my wife on my both knees that I had her permission to buy that car.

On the other side; I am a car mecanical, so I save a lot of money that I don't have to spend on a dealer. (and I work sometimes "after the ours")

Sorry to hear that Billing in Juli is, we work both full-time and Juli is the month that we go on holiday in the Pyrenees. (see picture above MantaGSI)

The sound of a street version is almost the same as the rally-car, but I don't have that "sucking" sound of the double weber carburators...

And another picture; a day out with the 400:

And I think I gonna join the Web Membership, a lot of interesting topics but invisible pictures.

Grtz!

I am guessing that in order for me to buy myself one in the future I will need at least £40,000? I will look on the Manta 400 website though for definate that you went on because to say you found a genuine 400 for sale is amazing and I would like to see on for sale. But I am a little bit younger I guess i'm 22 right now and even though I may still be one of the younger members I can remember the days when Mantas were easy to find if you wanted to buy one. I have some great memories way back in my true younger days back in the 1990's/early 2000's. It is really good that you are a car mechanic because you know that when you do a job yourself on your Mantas it will be the best job that it can be rather than paying somebody to do it as a job. The picture you have posted with the 400 in the middle is a fabulous picture to add to the Manta gallery, the 400 being the star of the show. :D

Jack.

I joined the Web-Membership and already saw some nice rebuilds!

@Jack: All the cars are 400's, Manta's and Ascona's together. Except the one on the left with the opel sign on the roof, that is a Ascona i2000.

This is a picture taken in Sevenum, some years ago:
