It really depends.  LS engines come in different sizes from 5.7 to 6.2, NA or supercharged etc. Everyone does the LS engines so I chose this engine and transmission to be different. I'm sure my life would have been a lot easier if Id gone that route as so much off the shelf stuff available. .

Exactly. Still not as popular here. Thinking of going LS2 for my Monza

I was making really good progress until a serious back injury laid me up for a month. Now that is getting better I can get back on it.

I got all of the components for my front brakes and set them up only to realize that the caliper fouled the wheel :(

So $400 and a lot of measuring later I ordered a set of Wilwood hats and rotors and now it all fits like a glove.  Looks way better too :)

I just need to order a 1/4" spacer for the caliper bracket and I can consider these done.

Then its back onto the transmission tunnel.  Need to finish up the shifter and handbrake mounts and that can then be welded in.

I finally got the Wilwood brake conversion finished so I put the wheels back on and rolled it outside.  I gave it a quick coat of rattle can paint cus the primer was annoying me lol.

Im running the wilwood 4 pots on my A and i removed the old pedal box and fitted the wilwood dual pedal set to run front and back brakes and clutch cylinder.

If i did it again i would run the tilton reverse mount set as the mater cylinders have a screw in fitting for the reserviour so you could easily tuck the who thing up under the dash in place of the old pedal box. (i might even swap to this when funds allow! They are so much cheaper in the US its just the shipping them back. need to wait for someone to go on holiday and bring them back for me!)

OK. Summer is finally over so I don't have to do any more yard work, pool maintenance, deck work etc etc.

So now I can get back on my project.

So I shipped off my headers to my friend to get built.

Then I started finishing up the trans tunnel.

I was able to utilize the original manta handbrake mechanism and the Mercedes shifter.  Next step is to weld this in and skin it.

Sounds like you’re having a miserable time - my pool overflowed due to the rain we’re having and my decking blew away!

The tunnel is coming along nicely. Do you bend those box sections yourself or buy them in pre-bent? Are you adding a lot of weight or is strength your primary concern?

I bought the bent box sections from a place called industrial metal supply. They have a lot of cool stuff that's very useful.

I figured building a space frame for the tunnel would add some extra strength. I'm not really concerned with weight on this car as it's pretty light as it is.  Even though I replaced the original engine with one much larger, it's probably about the same weight as it's all aluminum as opposed to cast iron.

I tried twice to build my own headers and failed. So for the 3rd attempt I tacked them together and sent them to my mate Mike Watson. He did an amazing job welding them up and this will get me past a big hurdle that I've been stuck at for a while.

Thanks Mike 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Did a lil more work on the car recently. Removed the engine to do a few jobs.

Fitted the headers

Built a bracket to mount a pulley as I'm not using the power steering pump (or have space for it)

Next job on the engine will be to remove the clutched supercharger pulley and fit a smaller fixed pulley for more boost.

Then while the engines out I can finish the firewall and tunnel and fit brake lines.
