Opel Manta A Wheel Backspacing

Recommended Posts

What is the most amount of backspace you can have on a front wheel of an A series?  I want to run a 17x8" rim with 6.2" of backspacing.  I wan to know if this will foul the suspension, anti roll bar etc.  I don't mind limiting the steering lock a little, modifying the front valance etc if needed.

You will have to do something to the front valance as even on 7 1/2 x 15 mine catch (use to!) on full lock.

I think you should be ok suspension wise as there is quite a bit of space on the A

This is the wheel spec.

I had the problem with it scuffing the valance on full lock and mostly when reversing. Not sure it it was not helped by worn bushes. I now have new anti roll bar and suspension bushes but not had the car on the road to try it. I did try some 6mm spacers to see if that helped but it made no difference.

Hope some of this helps.
