Kevin Abbott Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 During the times I'm not at the Manta I have been doing these in the Lab. The standard Exclusive headlights rust away and the retaining clips become brittle so I made an alternative. New lights ordered and on the bench Strip old ones and ultrasonic Nothing worth using from these Measure up and get new fittings Grind and cut using a £600 hand piece Bend tab Fit Secure Add springs and cup washers Fit to bezel Job done 3 Quote
Paul Barrett Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Nice neat solution, could use some wing nuts for easy adjustment too. Good work on the resto btw! Impressive pace 1 Quote

Kevin Abbott Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) I decided I wanted Engelmanns on the car but looking through the spares I realised I had only one mounting foot. So I made my own using an original foot I poured a silicon 2 part material around it to make a mould Test in cold cure acrylic I assessed the first one and thought it needed more strength so I modified the mould Now done in chopped strand and resin Oh they get warm From the mould and ground flat on the water grinder I may need to add reinforcement to the fitting point To add to the stress the mancona returned to my Brothers I have also found time to do a roof conversion in my conservatory using superquilt Then to add to the fun my Brother turned up with this Paint bay now looking like Retro Power Edited May 10, 2015 by Kevin Abbott 1 Quote

Kevin Abbott Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 A bit more ironing with some bog This side has a full arch section added not by me and was a PITA to get straight Other side needed a little wipe to sharpen the lines Wheels are off the GT, my brother said it made the car look like a gasser Prep takes a loooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg time High spot Primer lashed on to make sure the lines are sharp and then add stopper if required Looking down the lines 4 Quote
plumster Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Where's your face mask young man???? tut, tut, tut. At my place there would be a stewards enquiry & a dozen H & S nobs running around with their pants on fire. What a grand job you are doing. 2 Quote
Kevin Abbott Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 Dialling in the lines has taken longer than the welding! With a bit of luck it will be FM Red by bank holiday monday. This side is the one with the replacement arch and took nearly a week to get right!! A lot of area guide coat and wet flat now Some new parts in from Germany This is the car that gave me the bug back in 1998, my 16v coupe.. I loved that car 3 Quote
