Manta78 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 My car is overheating and could it be that the rad is a 3 core and that the fan isnt powerful enough to pull air through? any ideas? Quote
spiney_norman Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Is it actually overheating or is the voltage regulator on the back of the dash clocks knackered? That would be my first check. Quote
Manta78 Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 naw not looking at the dash at all the engine but mainly the rad is getting really hot after a short time of running Quote
Manta78 Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 Yeah radiators the wrong one..the fan doesnt seem to be strong enough to pull air through the radiator . So could i just take out one of the cooling vents? would this work? Quote
wayne ingham Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Is the thermostat working ,lower hose getting hot ,hearted getting hot ,not air locked Quote
Manta78 Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 took out the thermostat just to make sure it wasnt that , heater hoses getting warm but i took out the rad and refilled it and it seems to be a whole lot cooler now so there could of just been an airlock in the rad so all good now Quote
rutts Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Put a mg b gt stat in 75 degrees will be ok. Around £5 on ebay Quote
mantasrme Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 If you take the thermostat out on a CIH engine it messes the water flow up badly and can make the engine overheat. 1 Quote
MANTAMAN Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Flush the cooling system, particulary the heater matrix, that often get clogged with sediment. When you have refilled the system find somewhere on a slope/hill you can park the Manta very nose up and get it hot enough for the thermostat to open, this will get airlocks out of the system, keep it topped up while doing this.
