Hi john and welcome you will have to come to the pub meet not far from you either its at the boddington arms salmesbury on the 1st Friday of every month but not in your Ford Lol

You'll have to excuse Mantaman John, he is a little blinkered when it comes to decent rear wheel drive cars. I mean, he even likes Vauxhall's.

I try and get to the Salmesbury meet as it's a quick (well quickish in a 1600 auto) spin down the M6, It will be in the New Year now. I want to set up the carb, timing, kickdown cable, the choke in sticking on a bit as well, it all seems carb related. I also want to get some minor body/paint repairs done.

I Promise I won't arrive in a F,f, f, the name that must not be mentioned.  Would a Skoda Yeti be acceptable or is that worse?

Yes they put blinkers on thorough breds...

Putting a For.. Fo... Frod Scrote on an Opel Forum, that would be like putting a Red Flag on Buckingham Palace, or has Cameron sold the Chinese this privalige last week?

Cheers Ben, yes I've just raided the back of the sofa and all my wife's handbags to copper up, and I'm now a member of this elite establishment. I'm keeping my cars in two seperate garages just in case my rude boy Ford tries to seduce my pretty Opel!

Welcome along, nice taste in cars, whats your ford mates saying about the new manta. Nice mk1 above, very retro, wheels are cool, banded right?

Nice choice of manta too........ive always thought manta wheels are not wide enough to fill the arch. I run 8inch on a standard manta body, 10 and 9 inch on a 400r, addicted to changing wheel bearings........,

The Ford guys have been very complimentary about the Manta, but they are mainly Escort orientated, and realise there is an (undeserved) scene tax on a Capri. The Escort is on 6 1/4"J Weller Lotus copies. the extra 1/4" due to their cock up caused to be a right pain, but it took 3 months for the wheels to be made, and I didn't fit them for another 3 months, so some rear arch mods were required to run -2" on the rear, it's ok on -1" though as it doesn't spark on bumps...........

It's a short stroke 1360 little screamer on 1100 low gearing, my son built the mechs when he was 17, 16 yrs ago, and it was built for the roads when we lived in the Yorkshire Dales, very noisy and tiresome on a long run though, hence the Manta. It was off the road for 11yrs until I got sick of tripping over it the winter before last so after a weldathon and new brakes, suspension, a bit more tuning, wheels, tyres and a quick blow over, it is what it is, not fast, but quick, and great fun.
