biffy1984
Thinking about buying the fibreglass 400 style vents and fitting them in my standard bonnet, anyone have any advice how to go about it? Don't want the filler cracking out over time... Thanks in advance.
biffy1984
So does nobody have any ideas of which glue to bond the fibreglass to metal and filler that's less likely to crack?
mikemanta
its not really the glue you have to worry about cracking it will be the filler you use to blend the vents in , tiger seal will bond them in but what seems to happen is the steel on the bonnet will expand at a different rate to the fibre glass as it gets hot from the sun or the engine this is what is going to cause the cracks ,
Snowy
Couldn't you use the flexible filler designed for modern plastic bumpers?
biffy1984
Yeah I'll probably fit them with tiger seal or sikaflex but would worry about the filler cracking where the vents are blended in. This stuff seems to get good reviews so think I'll try it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverhook-BIG31-Plastic-Flexi-Filler/dp/B007NVYCNU Just thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone has had first hand experience fitting these vents in a metal bonnet.
