H-400
We had a nice weekend with the Dutch Manta Club, some pics: Nice Commodore, love the sound: On our ride back home we entered one of the chunnels of Antwerp... It was like the concrete plates had moved up, it was a bang that I felt in my spine and than it was like the car had lost something, metal to metal and I stopped on the emergency-lane. I openned the hood and the dome of the left chock-absorber was totally ripped off. Because it was to dangerous I left the chunnel and parked the car on a safe spot. This is why our car broke down: we had the Rally-plate nr 13: Bad luck!! And I don't like the look of it, the Manta hanging on a wrecker-truck... Pic of the damage: Some welding and back on the road...
robah
Some great pictures of the show, not so great pictures of the return journey. Hopefully not take much to repair. Here are some pictures of what happened to ADZ 4575 on her first outing in "Sweet Lamb" 2014
H-400
Oops! Thats something else! Is that because of corrosion? I see the body is welded on the spots that are important.

Yes I think stress corrosion as it's spent a lot of it's life on tarmac and gravel circuits. I probably stressed it by having a passenger ride on the little test circuit the day before. Simon (Crookboys) gave it some airtime with me sat there and it landed on that front wheel, so I think my weight helped it to go over the 3 stages the day after. (no I was not the Nav) He was looking at getting the struts made to 400 spec before he rolled it the following year. The car is now with someone rebuilding it (on the forum) and he is doing a fantastic job of it as well.
H-400
I am already following that rebuild. He is doing a great job! I noticed the inside of the struts are already reinforced as a Gp-4 400.
ascona400r
Nice pictures Henk. Unfortunate the way you ended up on the tow truck but it could have been much worse.
H-400
I'm not Henk, it is not the first time they mix me with him. We both do things with 400 but I'm from Belgium. My first name is Herman, and yes, I know Henk also! About my 400: it is welded on both sides and ok.
GerryC400
Glad you got that sorted. Must have been a hell of a shock when you first saw the damage!
