For Sale.

New Sportex front pipe for Manta B 2.0 CIH.  Originally purchased for my old GT/E but never fitted.

Please note, this is the front pipe only and you will need an additional link pipe between this and the centre / back box to fit.

£30 only.  Buyer collects from Wragby, Lincolnshire.

Hi

I wonder if you can help me

I’m restoring a 79 Coupe but need a downpipe set to complete my exhaust ( I have two rear boxes)

I’m looking to buy the Sportex downpipe you previously bought but am having a nightmare getting confirmation that it will fit .

stupidly I threw the old exhaust away rather than keep it for reference .

I assume the Sportex units sold over here are RHD variants .

looking at your photos the manifold plate connection would match mine if the exhaust turns after passing down through the steering aperture and then crosses back across the car to the passenger rear silencers .

In other words the manifold connection plate on my RHD looks to run roughly front to back in the engine bay .

When you ask a Sportex dealer they just seem to be vague on information .

Would be very grateful for any clarification you could add

Hi David,

I bought the pipe a long time ago for my GT/E hatch, but then didn't fit it as they couldn't get the manifold bolts out!  The pipe shown was definitely for right hand drive.  One word of caution is that when I tried to fit the middle and back box sections to the original GM front pipe, it wasn't long enough and I ended up having to go to Powerflow and have a link pipe made to join the two.  Best to buy the full system to be sure it will fit.  From memory, the long middle pipe has the bends in it that route the exhaust from the driver to the passenger side of the car.

As a secondary note, be careful if you try to source a standard front pipe - I tried and all I could find were in Germany and for left hand drive Manta's.  I bought new old stock from Billing and then got it it blasted and painted.

Good luck!

Ben
