How much could my car be worth.

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if  anyone  out there could help me out.

I need to know  roughly  what my manta is worth as iam thinking  about  possibly  selling  it.

As I don't  get to use it much anymore.

I have a 1977 opel manta  sr coupe  in pastel blue that has had a no expense spared , fully documented  restoration.

It was completed  a couple of  years ago,and is still looking  great today.

As iam not a paid up member  I can't  add any photos. SORRY..

I have  got  pictures of my car and could  email  them to  anyone  who may be able to  help  me out.

Thanks  in advance  for any help  and advice I may  receive.

Cheers Stuart.

I can only echo what Chris has said, beautiful and reminds me of my sadly departed SR and how I wanted mine to look, if I had the cash I'd not have even posted the pictures

If you do part I hope you find the right person who will look after her.

For insurance: £15000+

On the open market: £10000+

All depends on what the market is like at the time, Just look at the Hatch that sold for £14000 last month.

Stunning car & rare as its a B1 SR non berlinetta model.

Love the colour

I think to achieve the highest price you may have to consider going down the auction route.

Hi Dave.

Thanks for your thoughts and  views.

I would  consider  sensible  offers  of around  the asking price.

I just want  it to go to a good  home 😉

I suppose  I should  put it in the cars for sale  section. But I can't  attach  pictures. 😭

Let's see what happens

Out of curiosity, what auctions  would  you  recommend 😆

It's certainly a stunner of a car and looks mint in the photos inside and out, however I suspect if you are looking for circa £15K, you may be waiting quite a while. I doubt it will reach that figure at auction either.

The colour is perhaps a bit marmite, lovely though it is and very much of the era. On the plus side, the black velour seats and matching trim is one of the better schemes that were around back then and suits the powder blue exterior.

I think a more realistic figure would be £10-£12K, but you never know, you might get lucky!

If someone is looking for an early B in drive away condition (as indeed, I would be) it might well reach the upper figure.

Very few Manta's have sold for much more. The 1.8GT hatch that sold for £14K at auction was very low mileage (13K miles if I recall correctly) and is still for sale (or was for many months) at circa £16K and wasn't shifting.

I'm no expert however but have been following Manta sales keenly for quite a few years now as eventually I hope to have another myself.

Hopefully, as you wish, it will be snapped up by an OMOC member.

You could add it to the cars for sale and link it to this thread with the photos.

Thanks for  your  thoughts.

The colour  is original  and it's only  covered 56.000 since new.which is fully documented.

I am the 3 owner..

I would  definitely  accept  £13.000.no less.

It's like  new.😉 and original.

Let's just see if anyone  is interested.

If not I will  keep  her. I ain't going to  give  it away.

The problem with advertising it to OMOC members only is that your audience is very small & most of us have already got a Manta or even a collection of Mantas !

I would advertise it on a website such as this one, its free & you can post up to six pictures.

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/

Alternatively put it up for auction at one of the well known auction houses e.g.

 https://mathewsons.co.uk/

You will reach a larger audience if you advertise it on the Manta fan club Facebook page

Insurance valuations on Mantas are very easy, achievable sale prices are more difficult to predict.

As a general guide in the condition that your car is in

Manta B2 Exclusive Coupe £15K +

Manta B2 GTE Coupe £12K+

Manta A SR £12k +

Manta B1 SR coupe £10K +

Manta Hatches generally achieve 35% less than their equivalent coupes, this is simply down to supply & demand.

Please bear in mind all of the above is only my opinion, just like an Estate Agent i don't set the market, merely study the market & observe the trends.

Finally Stu if i were you & did not "have" to sell my car then i would keep it

I will  try  my best to keep it.

Just toying with the  idea.

As I need to get some  money  for other  things 😠

But thanks again for your help and support. 😉

I will  make  some  enquiries  when I get a spare  5 minutes. 😉

Cheers

Yeh, keep it, take your fist full of cash and see how long it takes to replace it, if you find one, you may need another fist full !

Wonder will it ever get to the stage where members swap cars like for like, eg both worth, same or similar money,

Stu, Ive got a few i can trade!

Thanks for the advice  and kind compliments. 😉

Might stick it on cars and  classics with a daft price.

Just to see what happens 😆

About time these early b s  started making good  money.

Rarer than mk1 and mk2 escorts  and most early  ferraris.

Hens teeth  springs to mind 😂

Stunning car and should be worth far more than you will probably get for it. The problem with Manta's v Fords is that there were not the same amount around when you were younger so people never really saw them like Escorts etc.. and people have that nostalgic thing for fords as they either had one, wanted one or new someone that had one, so they do get that higher price as people will pay it as not only will they love it but all those others that wanted one will as well, so it will be a bit of a show off car!!

Only bought mine as a fried of mine has it and i liked it and you hardly ever saw one on the road so was a bit of a novelty 🙂

Get a loan for the other stuff and keep the car 🙂 as you will probably regret getting rid of it!!

Wish i had one i could just get out of the garage and drive when i wanted, i will just be happy if mine ever makes it out of the garage 🙂
