Wardmar
I'm using a 1.9 ascona engine that I want to convert to electronic ignition so need the correct distributor. I'm open to advice on what I need.

Now I just need to find one. 🙂 There is another alternative, only used it years ago that does not need a crank sensor and is fairly straight forward replacement. I did fir one to my first 1.9 SRB Manta some years ago and it was simple but solid performer. And I am sure they have improved since then too. Optronic kit replaces the points with an optical sensor and a plastic blade fits over the square https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/brand/lumenition/

That’s a lot cheaper solution, and presume easier to fit.

Wardmar
I might end up using one of these options, I was just hoping to use the original parts if I could find them.
Jessopia74
The GTE distributors use similar to the mechanical one you have now + an electronic upgrade. Infact, I would suggest that your better keeping the original distributor and use a ‘points replacement’ as it can always be reverted back to item if you wish to keep it looking that way.
