Manta Auction

Recommended Posts

Again these recent prices have a knock on effect to every manta owner, to replace what they have in the event of unfortunate circumstances on the road or stolen, the costs of replacement is going to be far greater. I will definitely be reviewing my fixed insurance valuation this year just to keep myself in the market if ever I needed to make a claim. I know getting an insurance agreement after an event is a different matter, but better to adjust now for the year ahead.

June 2020 Anglian classic car Auction, 86 GT/E Coupe Black, C818 VGU, sold £15660 inc premium,

November 2020 Anglian classic car Auction, 88 GT/E Exclusive coupe, Monaco Blue, sold £21000+ premium

Now this 86 Black GT/E, coupe, requires some restoration, C665 OCN £19500+ premium.

surely this is enough evidence for insurance to agree higher fixed valuation, just means higher premiums.

Give recent prices rises with Manta coupes, I can’t but feel for those on the lookout to purchase one, (great if you’re selling) whether it’s their first Manta or getting back into ownership. These prices are now getting to the stage where it’s serious buyers with deep pockets who can afford and own one, £20k for a project all be it possibly a light restoration will limit the buyers. what I remember back in the day and what attracted me to them was they seemed to be very popular with the young lads, everywhere you looked on our streets up here you could spot a Manta, and to me always more desirable than any equivalent Ford at the time. There was a time in the early to mid 90’s the Manta seemed to disappear from our streets up here like turning off a light, nobody wanted them, you could pick them up really cheaply.

They are still a rare sight on our streets up here but how the tide has turned on values.

With relatively low survivor numbers in good to very good condition this is probably one driver on pushing up prices, secondly, attitudes for buyers are I presume, get a good one while they are still available, I still see prices rising for the foreseeable future of these 80’s icons. The Black GT/E coupe sold by Anglian classic car Auction back in June 2020 for the price of £15660 seems a bargain after today’s sale.

It does seem like them attracting the attention if magazines and the relative rarity in comparison to equiv first is driving the price, but they are still under well below these values.

It's amazing to think that only last year Gerry's mint dolphin grey exclusive seemed expensive at £20k, now a non standard gte in need of work fetches the same in the middle of winter, in a lock down, with no sign of being able to use it at shows etc.

I just hope these prices don't stop people using them as intended as happens with other marques.

I suspect that we are seeing people choosing to invest in classic cars again as interest rates are quite poor, and this is pushing values up, I'm not sure if it can be sustained and I think we may see the bubble bursting at some point just like it did in the late 1980s.

Well that has well and truly put my plans for rekindling my younger days in a Manta back in its box.

I seen that it needed the swan necks, rear arches doing and maybe some more. That work alone would cost ???

Fantastic news for all of you in current ownership. Maybe I'll look at a Viva 😁

I think people will put the manta up for £13,000 plus ,which has put out of my budget

,people who where looking for a manta will look elsewhere for the classic car

Most of my cars back in the 80s was manta, cortina mk3 ,Capri, viva hc

So with the price of mantas going up , will be looking for one of the above motors

When did fords get cheaper than mantas 🥴 how did that happen 😳

Can get a nice Capri for £6/7000

mk3 cortina for about £7,500

The price of Capris MGB Rover P 6 has come down a fit bit

You can get a Stag for £8,000 which is in good condition

Escorts are still quite high in price

I am looking for a manta, but with the price going up and up not got that kind of money

Will be looking for a Ford as the prices are more

You can get a Project Capri or a 1600 or 2 litre easy enough but the 2.8 or 3 litre are commanding good money especially for something that isn't rotten. I'm sure a nice Manta Project will turn up but for the money it will be one that needs a bit more than a light resto.
