Remove the paint with wire wheel, then used wet,dry sandpaper

Then polished it to a mirror finish front and rear

Used Leather cleaner just disappear into the wheel so use quite a bit

Still look faded. Tried boot polish did not work

Then used 3 in 1 black T cut , did not work very well

Rub down light the leather on the steering wheel

Tried the black T cut again, worked really well

 No heater motor working

Removed the motor, found the motor stiff

Lub and clean the motor. Bench test the motor

Plug into the wiring works okay

Refit into the car ,found that the motor blades are jamming on a black box on the bulkhead

I am missing something or is it the wrong motor

Sorry about the photos as they keep coming out upside down

The motor goes through the hole, the fan blades stay on the outside towards you and are then hidden by the cover. The motor should be miles away from the cold air intake.

When l removed it it fitted with the fan blade inside the heater housing

Have fitted it the correct way and works okay

Thanks Dave for the information

Hi Wayne,

Chris is spot on, she was my 3rd manta, second brand new one registered with my private plates both times with SJT and A1. Absolute joy to drive as I used her everyday at the start with several trips to Germany, Netherlands for car shows.

Pleased to know she is still about as I often wondered where she disappeared too, never knew the original registration number as the dealer in Northampton transferred my plates straight on from my silver hatch at the time.

We always say never sell, but if you do consider it, would you give me first refusal.

I have a white exclusive here with me in New Zealand which gets taken out occasionally, hardly anyone knows what she is here. They mostly look blank at you when you say Opel…

Today l though l drop the coolant as it looked browned and the pipes going to throttle body not getting hot.

Removed the lower hose ,come out pink coolant so it was okay

The T piece the go’s to the throttle, heater rad looking a bit rough

Tryed to remove it snapped off the piece that goes to the throttle body

Found it blocked. and it just fell apart

Out come the pluming bits and made temporary one so l can run it hot

No leaks on test ,but will require one

If its got pink antifreeze in it i would drain it all out, flush it and fill it with blue antifreeze as thats what it was designed for. Have a google search for the exact facts but the pink stuff reacts badly if there is any blue left in the system and can also cause damage to some of the things inside the cooling system.

The rule of thumb is use whatever type of antifreeze that engine was designed to use
