Monaco Blue
I suspect the asking price is is a bit ambitious: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-manta-sr-v8-pre-gte-1981-drag-car-solid-as-a-rock-brilliant-engineering-/115226281017
mantasrme
Yeah thats a very wishful price tag. If it is worth 8k it must have also been worth taking some decent pictures of it to show this brilliant engineering, and maybe even moving it from its resting position into the open to take pictures of the inside. I'm pretty sure there was a topic on here at one point by the then owner of that car. From what little i remember there wasn't much engineering done to the car other than fitting a v8 and fuel cell. Pretty sure it was standard suspension all round and brakes as well. Also If it had been well engineered it wouldn't have needed 2 holes cut in the bonnet for the carb dash pots to sit through in my opinion. 7
Jonathan Pounsett
Lazy engine positioning - too high and not central. It all looks a bit unfinished with plastic bottles and cable-ties. I doubt it’s been driven much. Having said that I do like it and apart from the rear bumper, wipers and interior it all seems to be there. If nothing else has been messed with it may be a good project to reinstall a CIH. If it was an auction with a starting bid of £2,500 - £3,000 I think it would sell but I doubt there will be any takers at all at £8k. I’m sure he will get loads of offers though. I may make one myself.
Jessopia74
Don't use Rover V8 now. Plenty of better lumps. The Lexus UZ as an example. A chap on FB living in Aus has an SRB with it fitted and it looks good. Early ones are very basic for wiring up the injection, self contained loom, just very basic external loom wiring for Ignition, start pump feed etc. Just as simple as LE-Jetronic tbh. Also lots of sump options too. A basic lump is about 100bhp up on the std Rover lump too. output is 191 kW (256 hp; 260 PS), torque of 353 Nm
