Heater matrix refurb

Just a heads-up for info, I’ve just had back my original 1980 heater matrix that has been repaired and refurbished. Credit where credit is due, it’s come back looking great, a really good job. The inlet / outlet pipes were mangled and the matrix corroded, all now back to new (see before & after photos). For the time I imagine spent, cost was very good and lower than other specialist companies contacted, who were somewhat dismissive.

Company is Coolex Heat Transfer Ltd, based in Nottingham. They exhibited at the NEC in March, not sure if they’re at the NEC again later this month.

I’ve no link with them, I’m just very happy with the work and hope the recommendation is useful for others.

Can’t say I have had good experiences with coolex. Had them make a radiator and it was average, but had been packed when the paint (that cost extra) was still wet, so when it was unpacked it was messed up. Customer service/ after sales was puss poor - made me feel it was my issue that I should fund to have rectified

I got my radiator refurbished up here in Edinburgh by ScotRad, proper old school company, been around forever. Was £120 earlier this year. When I walked in with it the guy (my age) said old Vauxhall Cavalier? Almost I said 🙂

Looks like a lovely job on the heater core btw 🙂

That’s great you still gave one close by, and £120 was a great price! Recore of mine was another £100 on top of that plus a trip to leeds (60miles). But there are very few places still open that do this type of work. Used to be a couple of great ones in Hull, but they closed a number of years ago due to very little work as it was cheaper to buy new Plastic/aluminium rads in the more modern vehicles.
