Vented Discs for Commodore GS/E Axle

I want to upgrade my rear discs from solid to vented and wondered what others have done or would suggest. They are currently ATE 24.0111-0127.1 and I’m trying to find a standard “off the shelf” disc with a similar specification to the Manta 400 group B ones but at a reasonable cost? 🤔

I found these but can’t afford them 😂;

First question is why?
But they will be pretty bespoke tbh, perhaps do away with the internal shoes would give more options, since that would open up opportunities for larger bmw ones.
Looking at those on the site, I do wonder if they are re machined discs, perhaps with a Porsche fitment as some if those are deep bells.

‘Have you used the Brembo catalogue for dimension search ?

I’ve used a few “search by dimensions” sites but not found anything.

These are also on viadanny.com;

Doubt it would be any cheaper to have something purchased and modded to work than those mate.

Didn't know some 400s had vented rear discs...The issue is the disc has a very deep bell to cater for the handbrake shoes....have a look at BMW front or rear discs...I plan to fit Z4 front discs on the rear, but  I am just using Commodore shafts in a Manta axle. My caliper has a cable handbrake mechanism...looks like you need to stick with 400 vented discs...

Which ever route I take I will need to modify my calipers (widen them) so may bin them and opt for a modern calliper with a built in handbrake function. That’s my next search 😀

Thank God we have the internet - how did we do all this research in the old days?

Books mate and a notepad lol

I think the lads and lasses in your local parts department or motor factors were more helpful and would help you find what you were looking for. These days if you don’t have a part number or a registration number they can’t help you much.

That is very true mate. The patience of some of those guys helping to go through various catalogues / cross reference parts . Difference is patience I guess. Things have changed (for us all ) so that we are now so used to having information far quicker. But that has also bred laziness to some extent, sadly

The caliper will be relatively easy to widen using an alloy spacer and longer bolts....

Another source for discs, maybe look at Ozzy Holdens....

Some Omega B had vented rears, will be the wrong PCD but those linked in the 1st post look like the origional PCD has been machined out

They look like they’d work but as @Jessopia74 pointed out once you paid for the machining you’re heading towards viadanny’s price. I think my calipers may touch the wheels due to the shallower depth. These 67mm and mine are 83mm.

In someways I’d like to buy his as it helps reimburse him for his design effort.

Some further research has shown several BMW ones to be very close without any machining. I’ll keep looking and post what I find here.

There will definitely be a BMW that works. There are literally hundreds to sift through some models had 10 different rear disks!

I may need to visit a brake man and see if they can search their database by critical data.

Yeah, sometimes it’s difficult to find that one. And then you find out that they are nearly as rare to find as what you was originally trying to substitute 😬

I would like to see what calipers are used with the wider discs...

I think the works 400s used Lockhead/AP CP2361's 4 pots. I think they were originally forest spec on the front of Group 4 Escorts. Not cheap these days Burton Power Products has them at £800 each

Also i think you can get 2 piston AP racing calipers to fit

 Also noticed viadanny has the other type of vented 400 discs like the Ebay one, they are a bit cheaper at €130 each

The discs were out of my price range so the calipers definitely are at £800 - for now I’ll just modify the Commodore ones.

If I can’t find an alternative discs I will probably go for the viadanny cheaper option I considered above.
