Hi, odd decision, having spent a lot on her.  But I really do want to find a classic convertible car.  So, up for sale is my Manta Hatchback, 1.8 pretty much base specification.  I am the second owner, the first took the car off the road in 1993 with plans to do it up in his retirement.  Alas life moved on for him, and I bought her from auction two years ago.  She has been fully recommissioned at a local classic garage and now drives, and feels like a four year old car.  I spent silly money having the bodywork sorted - mainly the nosecone and rear quarters.  The chassis and swan legs are as good as you’d expect - they look like 3 year olds.  I’ve a large history file going back to the delivery invoice, and of course I have the service book.

Bad points:  There are a few blemishes, some small bubbling on the sun roof but not the roof behind, the passenger door has paint chips, when it has sat for a week or so it cranks before firing (return valve in the fuel line maybe) but when it’s been used it fine and the heater motor only works on 2.  She has been converted to a webber carb (original in boot) and has a SportTex exhaust.  The clock may or may not work, I replaced it with a good used, but it seems worse than the one that was in there.  Which incidentally may not have been faulty as the negative lead on the battery turned out to be loose.

I will get some proper pictures, and when I do I will list here on C&C but I wanted to see if there was any interest here first.

Very tidy, someone will snap it up for sure. Might be worth a close up of the bubbling.

I have 2 projects on the go and neither are convertibles sadly or we could have looked at a deal.... although it might make the 1980 2.0 air-cooled lump Camper move a bit quicker if I chop the roof off 🤣 I put a new fuel pump on it after much hassle, it runs great but drives like a big fat slug 🤣

Oddly enough I thought the same, so good idea thanks, but the weather there has been horrible.  Here’s the sunroof and pedal rubbers (which someone asked for on Facebook), presumably to check it’s not 140k miles. 4498975D-3320-41B8-8C5F-D9D7886B4E14.thumb.jpeg.e150f8e121e6d6a185fccc0e2a44315a.jpegF6C7C17C-2972-455F-B6C8-BB27CE5C53F5.thumb.jpeg.2abee9399b17f0c5848b5554082b26ed.jpeg

Rocking horse poo but what about a Centaur?

That would be absolutely perfect, mine and cash, heck I’d even cut the roof of my hatch but it’s the wrong model to start with.  I’m sort of drawn to Jensen-Healeys (not the Interceptors).

I remember bidding on this one a while ago. Looks like you've sunk a lot of money and work into her, Barry. Nice job! Don't forget to mention in your advertising that it's an exclusive, over "a base" as you only got the Irmscher quads, leather wheel, rear bumper and infill panel on a genuine exclusive. Good to see the pedal rubber thing catching on as a mileage back up too!--even though this one has a full history file.

Whilst I don’t know Barry personally, I have seen this Manta on various places and it’s a really nice, original Exclusive hatch.

If anyone wants me to view it and give my independent thoughts, happy to do so.

but in all honesty, it’s a bit of a gem!

Should have said, price is £9,950 now, or near offer.  I have my eye on a Centaur.  And whilst the boss is pretty easy on my car habits - she doesn’t see the point of having two similar cars, and yes I’ve explained…

Very nice car and good luck with sale, didn't realise they also coined the 1.8 as an exclusive. Along side a 2.0 get exclusive hatch, everyday a learning day.

Would it be worth spending a day cleaning it up, photographing it as per insurance style photos, from each side, in a nice location, along with underside photos, and history file photos.

It's one of those cars you could save all the original parts, xe it, alloys, recaros, and have all the nice original parts.

Again very nice car and someone is going to be happy. 👍

The centaur was at the Lytham car show a couple of weeks ago. I was chatting to the couple who own it, it's a really nice car.  Perhaps someone else on here might be interested?

Hi Stephen, was that CYN220V?  The owner is on holiday at the moment, but as soon as he’s back I’m going to see it 🤓

There is a manta hatchback convertible. Was done many years ago, used to be in wakefield and then was sold down to the south cost 6 years ago or so.

I've just checked and as its mot exempt there is no info for that, but the tax check shows there was a new V5 issued 8 days ago. So its still around.
