I have just become a member, I had a GTE between 1986 -92 and sadly had to sell it when my kids were born. Seriously thinking of finding another one as a restoration project  when I retire

Hi Ed,

welcome 🤗.

Think many of us gave been in the same position, family demands came first (and rightly so). There have been some lovely Hatchbacks for sale just irately at really good price point for entry back to ownership. A couple virtually needed very little.

Did you have any pictures if your old car? I sadly never took many from my early ownerships, a huge failure on my part 🤦‍♂️

For some reason I don`t have any pictures of my earlier cars except for my first which was a Vauxhall Chevette, guess i was too busy plus the fact that camera/mobile phones didn`t exist then.

Looking back I wish I'd have taken pictures of all mine, like you I literally only have one picture from back in the day. At the time it just didn't seem important, they were just my day to day driver, who'd have thought in 35 years they would be so valuable! I only sold NAD357P for circa 300 quid 😢

Sold mine to get married/ first child came along.  Luckily or unluckily depending how you look at it I managed to get that car back. Wish I had more photos of it first time owning it but as you say no phone cameras back then.

Any ideas of model, spec, investment?

Early Manta B are cheaper, but better, Shhh!

Later cars are more sort after.........exclusives

And early exclusive look alike 😎

Are you after a major project, hatch, coupe, restoration, basket case, or turn key.

Maybe worth trying abroad for a LHD, and converting.

But alot of UK cars are coming outta the Barns 👍

I am just at the researching stage at the moment ,I would prefer a GTE Exclusive in drivable condition with a view to restoring to show condition. What is available as far as body panels and kits go?  On your point about LHD cars ,there are some very smart looking GSI`S about in Europe, how big a job is it to convert a LHD to RHD?

Bulkhead and everything that attaches to it, but in the bigger scheme of things it’s not undoable, just the cost imo.

how much of the restoration work can you do yourself?
