I’ve missed the last few Sywell meets due to the above but will be back for this year’s one-hopefully see you there. Danny Hey Danny, Nice to hear from you. Jessopia74 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I would love to retire at 50, still have all that time to work on my cars. But that’s a pipe dream as the Mrs would definitely not want me home so much 🤣 2 Quote
TheRealExile Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I have no chance as I'm 50 in April 🙄 I need either to win the lottery or the likes sadly if I'm to retire before 60. 1 Quote
Simon Dobbo Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Me too 48 but a mortgage that runs to 65 so lottery win definitely required trouble is I would spend it all on cars 😂 2 Quote

I’ve given myself another 10 years in this trade, then I want out. Either a lighter job or a part time job. Sick of working myself to death with no benefit to us. 3 Quote

That was way of thinking, never happened when they find that you worked in the motor trade, you will get bored and quit.l tried about 10/12 jobs.I can still get a job in the motor trade no problem even at 65 years old Quote
®evo03 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I've been in work so long, I wouldn't know what to do to pass the day. Especially in winter. How do you all spend your day. Local guys here who have retired have mens sheds, a community group effort, what they do there, who knows. 😂 1 Quote

My wife has always said she felt like a single parent family as everything always fell to her, so now she has a part time job working doing the accounts for our daughter and son inlaws very busy companies and for the first time in my life i have taken on the housework and washing etc, it keeps me busy, i also as a sideline restore 60s and 70s corgi and dinky models, which i find very therapeutic, and in the summer months im outside minting my cars up and tinkering in the garage. Its all about filling that void and keeping relatively busy. Last thing i want to do is sit and veg in front of the telly all day. 5 Quote

As Chris wrote above my wife was a lot alone, later with the kids. Did tours overseas in Africa, Balkan countries and middle east. My wife showed the oldest pics of me and later at the PC-screensaver so they would recognise me when I came home again. Remember when I served in Bosnia my wife was pregnant but no long later when I came back home from Kosovo the same kid ran into my arms. My wife did this all alone with two kids, respect. 5 Quote

Total respect Herman, We miss so much working away and long hours, I remember coming home one Sunday lunchtime and my Daughter walked over to me, I said to my wife "How long has she been walking" 3 weeks was the reply, that has never left me !! 3 Quote
