  1. I too love most old motors and not particuarly faithful to just one badge, i don't see the fun in that. But mantas and capris are definately 2 of my faves and i like them both in different ways. I now don't have either but will probably take another manta as the mrs prefers them so anything to keep her happy! A few photos when i had both for a while, this doesn't shed the capri in the best light as mines was pretty rusty by then:
  2. Hi, You can check the status of wether a car is currently taxed or not at the DVLA site: http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ Just click on vehicle enquiry and enter the details. Your old manta was last taxed in 1998 so its not looking good but as is the case with mantas you never know it could be stored away somewhere. Date of Liability 01 04 1998 Date of First Registration 15 06 1984 Year of Manufacture 1984 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1979CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour SILVER
  3. Just spotted this post after looking through some old threads. This used to be mines, it was actually blue. Before that, it was, as has been pointed out Keiths old hatch. Was a nice motor, a bit rough around the edges and had a ghastly loudbox exhaust (i was courting my gf at the time and her face was classic when i first turned up in it ) and pretty naff alloys which i never got round to removing but was fast and a lot of fun to drive. The good news is it was sold onto a manta fanatic lady in Glasgow who's husband owns a garage and has plans to restore it fully. She did actually update me out of the blue sometime last year with some phone pics and it looked well underway, new sills, alloys, suspension kit, new paint etc so it is receiving the treatment it deserves that i could only wish to have had the space and tools for. I may have another manta yet, but i cant help wanting another capri or perhaps an old datsun too so i guess i will have to wait and see what comes up and looks best first.
  4. Completely speechless, nothing but respect for your dedication put into this resto! I miss my manta a lot after reading through this.
  5. Thanks Keith! Aye the capri was mines, im one of the few that likes both fords and opels amongst others!
  6. Just to make you aware that my manta is up on ebay for sale: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=220491623810&Category=100932&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1 Viewings are welcome. I bought this last year from Keith from this board, has served me well and some money has been thrown at it to keep things ticking over. Good running order, body work is not brilliant though as the paint is shot on the roof and has a dent on the drivers side rear panel, plus a couple of smaller scrapes. Sad to see it go, but i need a smaller car for city centre parking.
  7. Hi Mantaman did you ever see the photos your friend took? i just remembered this thread and it would still be very interesting to see photos of so many mantas in one area. If you do have the photos, is it possible for you to post them up?? ive just noticed this is just one day from being a year away since i last posted in this thread []
  8. The enquiry is complete DVLA says The vehicle details for GHB 776J are: Date of Liability 01 11 1986 Date of First Registration 16 04 1971 Year of Manufacture Not Available Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1584CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour GREEN Im afrraid it looks like it might not be with us anymore unless its in storage.
  9. Photos would be great!! Id like to see some of these poor mantas. I wonder why theres so many in one area? Sounds like they have good taste down there!
  10. Im growing fonder of 'A' s the more i see them. And ive not seen many
  11. Spotted it down off London road, red B reg Manta Hatch, rough round the edges but looked great. Also just round the corner was a very early opel rekord, gold with vinyl roof, looked stunning. Anyone here?
