  6. Hi guys, just had to sorn the car over winter and was thinking of maybe putting her up for sale.Getting a bit bored with having nothing much to do over winter. The only things the car could do with is a set of discs as you can feel them a bit at speed,a spiggot ring for one of the alloys and new windscreen plastic insert.I have an idea of what i would like just wondering what you think it is worth.Cheers al.
  7. Just nearly beat ten bells out of a polski. Was sat behind a bmw waiting for him to move when he suddenly banged it in to reverse right into me.I was thinking the worst, luckly no visable damage. But the misses had to stop me belting him.I have is insurance details just in case so will have a better look tom.The funny thing is a merc vito reversed into my other car causing a grands worth of damage 10 days ago.

    Starter Motor

Cheers but the starter on ebay looks like a 20 ohc one.The solinoid seams to be in the wrong place. And and getting to the point where i have a garage full of stuff from e bay been and turned out to be not the right thing, but just kept them.I have a set of monroe front shockers sold to me as gas but turned out to be oil as an example.

    Starter Motor

Its a gte.If i get stuck i will have it off you thanks. But i think postage will be more than a £5 mate it cost just short of £12 to send the last one back via royal mail.
  10. Hi guys as anybody got a spare starter hanging about for a 2.0ltr cih pls.I have just been ripped of by someone on ebay selling a nos one. When it came it was boxed wrong, the right part number on the box but wrong unit.He agreed a full refund but would not pay postage,so i posted it back and now he is claiming it has not been returned. So now about £50 out of pocket. If any one has a spare at the right price will be more than willing to pay for it and postage.I was going to billing to try pick one up but cant get there now unfortunately.Cheers al.
  11. I had a similar thing happen last week,i had taken a alloy of my zafira as it was getting low on tread and relaced it with my spare.I then popped to pick the missis up from work.Within a space of 20 mins or so scum baggs in a tranny had been on my drive and nicked it, as well as been in the garden removed a spare battery and two exclusive bleedin alloys.I had i witness but they did not take the reg of the van. As normal it was reported but not holding my breath.Seems to be happening a lot lately.
  12. Is anyone doing the east coast run this sunday. For anyone not done this before its organised by the thoroughbred car club and is from east park in hull to brilington.I have done it twice in the past once in my old vw camper and the other time in my old bug but never in a manta.I know of one other manta owner going but dont know of anyone else.Cheers al.

    Oil Pressure

Was definately no oil pressure, oil light on.Was knocking like a gudd un.But as if left for 5 min at the most the pressure back to normal.I am using 20/50grade oil and a new filter.I was wondering that as it was left not running for a long time could there be some thing in the sump ie carbon or sludge washing around and every now and then getting sucked onto the strainer.I am hoping to get the summer out of it and do a full rebuild in the winter when i am bored on them lonely dark nights.Cheers for the help.

    Oil Pressure

Well guys after about 4 weeks of running fine the gremlins have appered again.I was driving along yesterday in not to bad traffic when i noticed the oil pressure low again and within a couple of seconds the pressure would not lift with revving the engine,so i pulled over and let it cool for 10 min and then it restarted with full pressure again. So i got home and changed the oil and filter again and had a drive. All was fine for about 3 mile and the same happend again.Once again i let it cool and it was fine,i managed to drive it back home again and it was fine.I know its not a faulty gauge or sender as you could hear it was knocking.I was just wondering is it possible to remove the sump while the engine is in situ so i can clean the pick up pipe.I seem to remember doing it before but it was a long time ago.Cheers Al.
  15. Cant wait to see it in the flesh. You will have to pop round in it to drop of that entry form for me mate.
  16. I am after a sun roof seal for my car if anyone can help. Was a perfect one till i closed the roof on sunday and it split right the way along. Was well peed off i can tell you.If anyone has one hanging around it would be most appreciated if you are willing to let it go.Cheers al.

    Oil Pressure

Cheers guys,i gave the cover plate a slight sanding on a flat surface with very fine wet and dry with light oil.A mate of mine who's a engineer, and rally car pit crew told me to use a kitchen formica worktop as a make do flat surface.I basically just polished the surface as i did not want to go over the top.It now is running at over 1 and 1/2 bar at tick over increasing with the speed.I will try to get a 2 hand plate and get him to re-engineer it for me just to make sure. Thanks for the help once again.
  20. Well after much head scratching over my oil problems its all finnished and today was issued with its 1st MOT in 3 years today."yippey".
  21. Another tip is get yourself some weld through primer,it works a treat on the inside of cavities before waxoil.

    Oil Pressure

I dismantled the oil pump cover and removed the oil pump vains to check for any ware and it did not seem to bad. Then had a look at the spring and plunger and all seem fine.To me it just seemed strange to lose all oil pressure and end up with the light on when at working temp.I was running on 10/40 but now have changed to 20/50 and will see how that goes. Thanks for the help.
