  1. Maybe its an Ascona diesel bonnet that the seller has then without realising it .....maybe..
  2. So I gather that this bulge was just for show and it was not packing anymore meat then...
  3. Its fair to say he was aiming high with his reserve then..and no doubt inspired by the recent sale of the E Reg GTE at £8.300 The seller just needs to get them jobs done in order to get that top money...I would still put it away for winter then readvertise it in the springtime. And by then the market would of shifted again in his favour...and the 9k asking price could be achievable. Untill then the market has spoken and said its only worth £5600,..i did think it was going to manage a 6k plus figure though.
  4. Unless there was a special/limited edition with a thumping V8 in it like the awesome firenza for the south African market. Only 100 of those made.
  5. To be fair not a good time of year to sell,i would tuck it away over the winter period..and sort the roof lining and drivers seat.then bring it out in the springtime for sale again Then it should meet its reserve price, providing its a sensible realistic one that is.
  6. yeah good points there mate, wouldn't take much to put them right though, currently at £4700 with 17 bids and almost 6 days to go. I can see it going for £6500 upwards, the biggest bugbear with it for the purist that is....is the fact that its be done in the wrong shade of white...but it still has the more desirable daytona check and the equally desirable roof without a gaping hole in it.
  7. This looks as good as that last white GTE that was on ebay which sold for over 8k,if anything this one is even better as its got the Daytona check interior and a solid roof. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/opel-manta-gte/292357220060?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49480%26meid%3Df49831f6f1d4405bb56d9e6f7b420e19%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D253289543125&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  8. Er....yeah that's what I meant by alternative mate....hell £178.61p for a genuine ex works manta 400,that won,t even buy one wheel. The full size 400R does look the dogs though, wonder what the asking price is...maybe 10-15k.
  9. How the hell did I miss this one .....its awesome imagine that sitting on your driveway..... I managed to find this one as a cheaper alternative....then again maybe not that cheap... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPEL-Manta-B-400-Rallye-TdC-Tour-de-Corse-1984-3-Frequelin-UMBAU-bas-OTTO-1-18/202115091063?hash=item2f0eff8a77:g:sXEAAOSw3fZaDG~o
  10. That 400 is still available further on down the list for 32k more than the i200..just in case folk are looking for ideas for their Christmas wish list that is..... Surprised the 400 has not sold yet,...I will hazzard a guess its probably due to the fact that its without the full fat wide arch kit....that said its still a 400 and very rare and collectable. I just prefer the full hit of the kit..for the outright road presence. Looks mint and the one owner bit just adds to the appeal....not right without the Rothmans stripes for me though.
  11. lol overzealous tester for failing the poor car on the main beam being to high,my mot chap would of just adjusted the lights.....then again maybe someone pinched the adjusters on this one aswell Overall quite a nice motor with potential, the wheels don't suit it so i would put the standard steels back on that seller is including in the sale. The jewel in the crown with this one is the low mileage, imho its worth 2.5k to 3k as it is, with the seller being open to offers that is,then that would leave scope to get it up to 5k + standard maybe.
  12. Really like the hatch in silver, the mileage seems to be inkeeping with the outstanding Daytona check interior, the bad welding wouldn't bother me as long as its solid, but maybe something that could be addressed at a later date, and add a fresh coat of paint to the engine bay aswell. Really nice affordable gte which is probably getting on for half the cost of an equivalent gte coupe.
  13. Was for sale a couple years ago on ebay and sold for over 6k. The current sale is using photos and some of the wording from the original listing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPEL-MANTA-GTE-COUPE-3-0-24V-/272048895641?rmvSB=true&clk_rvr_id=1353814098814&nma=true&si=gdp1fJS1Nw4PHXLKa84p5BDHMXA%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  14. Great pics Herman and thank you for posting them. In the one pic of an engine bay with an irmy rocker cover onand throttle bodies is that one of the i200's
  15. Must of been a factory option to of had the opelsport steering wheel surely,a GTE steering wheel does not belong in a manta 400 that's for sure. Mind you beggers can't be choosers as they say
  16. God dammit i'm glad my manta is black, and no its not starmist its black its black as black can be .its .....well its just beautiful......end of .......sorry just dropped the mic.
  17. LOL the great colour debate again.can we establish what colour it actually is then Great stuff mate,...what price are you going to be looking at on this one when she comes up for sale.
  18. Quite a memorable reg on this car..E for ectasy...101 for room 101 and RFD could of almost been RWD...so the f is for Freddie Mercury,or maybe forrest that would be more in keeping with the nature of the car somewhat. What colour is that dan .is it dolphin grey..now that she has had the fresh paint that mint interior in contrast is making a lot of sense now. Commendable barn back on the road project mate, will be a cracking car for someone, even I would think twice about this one,and that's saying something as at one point i would refuse to even recognise the hatch as a manta as I was so pro coupe.
  19. Sorry I forgot to add the get out clause..........IMHO
  20. Looks like a cracking motor, with a pro looking engine conversion, also the costume interior looks good. But its to understated for my likeing as it is,that may well of been the intention,(sleeper)of the seller. If I got my hands on it,the wheels would go for a set of deep dish borbets for that euro look,it would have to have the exclusive rear spoiler aswell Also the cheesey v8 badge would have to go,to be replaced by gte decals but the letter e replaced with a number 8,even though it started life as a berlinetta. Maybe I should buy it.......GT8.....
  21. Attention to detail is impressive in the engine bay and interior, just neat and uncluttered looking so much so it looks like a pro build.of retropower standards. What was the 350bhp engine that was in it beforewas it a LET
  22. Looks the biz with a great spec, but not to sure about the roof vent....lets deal with that the sunroof arrangement. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1981-OPEL-MANTA-GT-J-2-0-16v-/222602856430?hash=item33d42a07ee:g:gocAAOSwIIhZhJjS
