  1. Not yet, sent faulty replacement back to seller in November. Waiting for it to be repaired or replaced.
  2. Needle went round to max as soon as I turned the ignition switch on and stayed there regardless of revs, on a plus the seller is swopping it for me. I have not fiddled with either of them for fear of making them worse. It is really a summer car so no rush to get it fixed, Thanks for all the help.
  3. Well I managed to get another rev counter, it looked good, fitted it at the weekend and the needle goes all the way around and stays there, which is much worse than my original, any suggestions please ?
  4. i got a cluster here out of a 1.8 berlinetta  £25 inc postage

  5. Working rev counter wanted for 1983 1.8s Berlinetta please. What sort of price if available ? Thanks
  6. Only noticed fault recently, had car new in 1983 and as far as I know fault has appeared this year.
  7. The standard brakes on my 1.8s work fine, once I had put astra sliders in with the grease helix machined into them.
  8. Thanks for that will have to find another tacho then. Cheers
  9. 1983 1.8S Berlinetta, Engine revs freely and runs fine aprox 90kmiles. Rev counter sticks at approx 2800 rpm. Any suggestions please? (do not say put your foot down. Speedo rises no ptoblem but tach sticks at 2800 rpm) All electrics OK as far as I can tell. Green wire on coil looks ok. It has a Lucas coil not the original Bosch one, could that be the issue ? Is the ignition module likely to have any effect ? Thanks Dave
  10. Thanks all, went for easiest option first and changed the braided copper earth from battery to chassis for a heavy duty copper one. This seems to have sorted my intermittent starting issue. Cheers
  11. Should my 1983 1.8s Manta have an engine earth strap? and if so where is it located please ?
  12. Broughton, Flintshire. We are almost neighbours
  13. Thank you, that is the answer I expected.
  14. Hi I think i have asked this question before but can not find the answer. My 1982 1.8s Berlinetta is usually on the road for the summer months only, is it OK to use 5/30 engine oil or is it beneficial to use 10/40 ? Thanks
