  1. Thanks for your help, sadly its the type thats going to involve lifting the roof lining, but a job thats worth doing. Having looked at your BLOG, nice looking 'A' I don't suppose you know a good source for front / rear screen rubbers, type with the chrome trim insert.......If this was Opel GT stuff I'd find it straight away but tracing 'A' series stuff appears a bit harder. 2. As the title suggests I'm after a set of front & rear screen rubbers for an A series SR. The rubbers need to be new. Thanks
  3. Helping a chap with an A series, SR model, with factory steel sunroof and vinyl roof. The roof is in good condition, but won’t to get it perfect and considering having a specialist replace the material to make it A1. Couple of questions, hopefully you guys/gals can help: 1. How do I get the sunroof out or at least how do I release the roof lining panel that’s on the underside of the of the sunroof panel? 2. ‘C’ pillar vents, do the undo from the outside or am I going to have to strip the back seat out, and partially strip / remove the roof lining (internal) to access fixings. Cheers in advance.
  4. Here’s my view, a GM enthusiast for too long than I care to remember; Manta, Kadett C and GT owner (Multiple!!!) and as a classic car dealer .... how many of you looked at? I did on Thursday afternoon and whilst it was nice I’m a long way from convinced that it was entirely original, there was plenty of evidence of it having had paint and whilst ‘yes’ it was done to a good standard, it wasn’t mint (not my mint!) .... I was especially disappointed with the sill extensions, they been pop-riveted on all the way down with the original clip holes still being evident. The inner wing to front panel area was just starting to burst out, the engine lacked any detail and looking at it, you could have been forgiven for thinking that you might have been looking at an engine that had done 150,000 miles, not 50k! As for the interior, generally ok, but the drivers seat outer bolster had collapsed altogether, the piping was out of shape and split. As for the history file, it was decidedly underwhelming, a few stamps in the dealer booklet and 2/3 incidental invoices, but noting to get excited about, I could not have put our business on it at £20k retail, tbh I would have struggled to see it at £15k, without us doing our usual of spending loads and giving our time FOC. And before you think I’m being a negative Nancy and bitter that I missed it, I’ll say this .... Swan Necks / Jacking points .... they were brill, a massive plus point!! Where did I see it? As it is, no more than £9k, with the thought of spending upto £1k to rectify with a retail figure of £12-13k. I’d like to think it’s gone to a privateer, I hope they do the car justice. If goes out to Trade, let’s see what they do...most will chuck a bucket of water over it and that’s it ..... we’re not all the same.
  5. As I said the car was generally rubbish, I’d rather have a £10k mint car in the portfolio rather than trying to get this to the standard. A fabulous car ruined...I now look forward to seeing it come to the market!!
  6. For anyone considering this I’d be very cautious!! Lost of evidence of paint around the car (36k miles?!), there’s blistering all over the rear arches, the arch lips have also been chopped off, the rear panel is an abomination and the adornment of ‘Turbo’ and ‘NOS’ stickers left me feeling that she really wasn’t that special!!
  7. I viewed the car and whilst it certainly looked visually stunning, what 400 doesn't the car in my super-critical eye was not a 133/135 rated car. Items of mention where some hairline splits in the paint at the base of the NS C-pillar and NS A-pillar, the drivers seat had some thread wear on the outer-edge of the seat bolster and application of the silver on the roof was very slightly inconsistent. Now I am saying I'm being super critical (my work has really made me focus in on the detail) and I did consider the car myself, but I have to say the one thing that kind of turned me off was the fact that the car had been converted to RHD. I completely understand it was done properly by a Pentlands Vauxhall but for me this would always limit the true nature and value of the car and this in part may have also hindered the bidding too as its unlikely that many of the European bidders will have gone for the car. Just my 2pence worth and what I would like to think is an honest assessment of the car with the minor areas mentioned being consistent with the fact she was restored in 2005.....BTW jacking-points and swan-necks in excellent condition! At £50600 (inc Commission) you'd have to say it was a great buy for a piece of super rare Opel Motorsport
  8. Thanks for the useful comments guys. I've used Splendid parts and GT Source for the GT's I've had over the years and always though prices were pretty reasonable.....I guess looking on Dr Manta's site nearly caused me to pass out as I think he's pretty dear. Any ideas on locating a 1.9 A'series downpipe as the rest of the system I think I can source from some of my other German contacts? BTW Andy....nice looking blog on Project Manta
  9. Been yonks since I've been on here and just looking at a possible project. On top of the usual, two of the things I'm looking at are exhaust systems and also a few body panels. Being a little out of touch are there any recommendations for getting Manta A exhaust systems, I'm after original OE and not looking to do a stainless? Does anyone know if the down-pipes are different on the LHD and RHD cars? Bodywork wise I'm looking for a front upper nose panel, ie the panel in front of the bonnet, do I have to take a complete nose cone, or does it come in smaller sections. I'm aware that Dr Manta exists for bits, but is there anywhere else to go for parts......apart from the wonderful club members who may have bits stashed away. Thanks in advance.
  10. Crickey....sorted already, thanks:)
  11. Looking for a CWP for a Manta A/B, only after standard 3.44 (9/31) ratio so shouldn't be too hard to find one. I'm not after a complete axle, just the CWP gear. Let me know what you've got:) Thanks
