  1. Mines split - Does any one have a good quality one?
  2. I've got an issue when the key in the ignition barrel is not clicking in to place on the 0 or I. This means that I can still start the car when the key is at position II, but the engine will then turn straight back off. Does anyone know if there is a way I can fix this?
  3. My ignition barrel seems to have died on my Manta a. I can start the car but the key no longer seems to click into place and the engine turns straight off. If anyone knows how I can fix this or has an Ignition barrel & key for sale, please let me know. Cheers
  4. I've seen a 2.2 CIH for sale which looks almost identical to the dead 2.0 GTE I currently have in there. Does anyone know if this would be a straight forward swap?
  5. Cheers guys, fantastic info. Looks like I'm going to have a dilemma on my hands! Slightly tempted to stick in the V6 I already have lying around as I can see it's been done before. It's not exactly a low mileage engine but then they do go forever.
  6. I meant doing something that's well known as a good conversion instead of trying to break new ground with something that's never been done before
  7. It's seized. A rebuild would get it going again for sure but it wasn't the best conversion to begin with and so I always planned that I'd put something else in. Has anyone tried doing a honda S2000 engine before?
  8. Budget wise not sure, depends on what's on offer I suppose. I'll probably look to do it for under 2k if I can. I do already have 2.6 V6 out of a Vectra which is tempting. But it's front wheel drive and I have no idea what gear box would be needed. I'm also more keen on doing a conversion that has been done before and works.
  9. Hi all, I'm trying to work out what options are available to me for an engine conversion for my A. Currently it has a (dead) 2.0 GTE and I'm looking to put something in that's more of daily driver than for show. I've seen people have managed to get 16v redtops in etc but I have no idea how hard this would have been? I guess I'm looking for something that's a bit more straightforward. Any ideas or pointers would be most appreciated.

  11. I'm not actually 100% sure which one it is but have a feeling it's the later ball bearing one as I think it's nylon/plastic? I put the manta in for an MOT and they failed it on the steering column being too loose which is why I'm after one. Thanks for the pics Andy!

  15. Hi guys, I've got an issue with my speedo not working on my A running a B GTE engine and gearbox. I took the dash out and the cable out of the back and tested to see if the main wire in the cable was spinning when the car moved. It didn't which told me it was dead. I bought a GTE cable and fitted it at the weekend. The good news is that it now spins! The bad news is that the end that connects to the dash has a completely different metal end on it and no outer plastic connector to connect it to the back of the dash. I'm assuming it's because it's a manta B cable I'm trying to attach to a Manta A dash so a different connector. This made me wonder if it was a manta A cable on there before which is why it did not work with the manta B gearbox? Does anyone know if my thinking is along the right lines and what's the best cable for me to use etc or if it's possible for me to somehow modify the cable to make it fit? Thanks Ed
