Rich118
Hi I am going to be swapping the engine on my 88 400 replica as it need the power to match the car, the car is off the road at the moment but i'm planning on using it as my everyday car once finished. I had been looking at a c20let but due to the lack of good engine around i have ruled this out, i also dont like the V8 route so am looking at putting a saab B234 in can anyone give any advice on what the best car is to remove one of these from best year or engine ?? i have read all the post on the fourm about these engines and know the sweet spot is between 94 and 98 and help is welcome thanks Rich
deanosabby
The 234 is a great engine as it has forged internals but I would not rule out the 204 as it revs easier than the 234 and is also easier to find. The best combo is a 234 bottom end and a 235 head. As you have said 94 on is what you need but just make sure it is not a late registered early car it is from as the earlier engine had a SAAB bell housing bolt pattern and not a GM one.
